Sealed Dispensing Device

View page
US Patent:
6343721, Feb 5, 2002
Filed:
May 11, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/568577
Inventors:
John P. Breault - New Britain CT
Assignee:
Loctite Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B65D 8300
US Classification:
222399, 222504
Abstract:
A dispensing device provides for dispensing of flowable material such as adhesives. The dispensing device includes a housing having a chamber with an inlet port and an outlet port for receiving and dispensing the flowable material. A valve assembly is supported within the housing having a moveable valve stem for opening and closing the outlet port. A flexible sleeve circumferentially surrounds a portion of the valve stem for isolating the flowable material from the moveable valve stem.

Single Stroke Fluid Dispense System

View page
US Patent:
6439431, Aug 27, 2002
Filed:
Dec 22, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/719547
Inventors:
John P. Breault - New Britain CT
Martin C. Cosgrove - Harwinton CT
Assignee:
Loctite Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B65D 3556
US Classification:
222105, 222 82, 222327
Abstract:
A single stroke fluid dispense system, including a dispense member having a dispense end defining a dispense end opening and a container well communicating with the dispense end opening for receiving a fluid to be dispensed. A closure cap is supported over the dispense end opening of the dispense member and further defines a fluid passageway therethrough in fluid communication with the container well. A compression assembly for forcing the fluid through the fluid passageway of the closure cap is also provided. A sealing piston assembly maintains the closure cap in sealing engagement with the dispense member. The closure cap may further defined a burst port at one end of the fluid passageway facing the container well which is especially useful for dispensing fluid from a flexible rupturable container. The compression assembly maintains fluid integrity between the container and the closure cap about the rupture port throughout dispensement so as to thwart fluid from leaking into the container well. The container also seals the interface between the dispense member and the closure cap during dispensement of the fluid to be dispensed through the closure cap.

Retractable Sealant Dispensing Apparatus For Squeeze Tube

View page
US Patent:
8302814, Nov 6, 2012
Filed:
Oct 30, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/261657
Inventors:
John P. Breault - New Britain CT, US
Steven J. Hemsen - Southington CT, US
Assignee:
Henkel Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B65D 35/28
US Classification:
222 95, 222391
Abstract:
A dispensing apparatus provides for the dispensing of product from a collapsible tube. The apparatus includes a body for supporting the tube. The body has a forward end for accommodating a dispensing end of the tube and rearward end for accommodating a closed end of the tube. An elongate actuatable plunger is supported by the body. The plunger includes an elongate rod and a base attached to the rod. Actuating means is provided for effecting movement of the plunger in a first direction along the body for engagement with the collapsible tube wall thereby deforming the tube wall and dispensing the contents of the tube from the dispensing end. The actuating means also provides for retractable movement of the plunger in the second direction opposite the first direction. The base is positioned on the rod for dispensing engagement with the tube upon movement of the plunger in the first direction and movable out of dispensing engagement with the tube upon in a second direction.

Hand Held Peristaltic Pump For Dispensing Fluid From A Rigid Container

View page
US Patent:
8453885, Jun 4, 2013
Filed:
Aug 4, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/850132
Inventors:
John P. Breault - New Britain CT, US
Steven J. Hemsen - Southington CT, US
Assignee:
Henkel Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B05B 11/00
US Classification:
222214, 2223832, 417474
Abstract:
A fluid dispensing apparatus includes an operable peristaltic pump. The pump supports a rigid container which includes an aggressive fluid which is to be dispensed from the container. A vent tube and a dispensing tube extends from the container through the pump. Operation of the pump causes fluid to be pumped out from the container through the dispensing tube while air is pumped into the container through the vent tube. This equalizes pressure in the container and allows fluid to be dispensed from a rigid container.

System For Dispensing Fluid Product

View page
US Patent:
8042712, Oct 25, 2011
Filed:
Dec 27, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/722547
Inventors:
Steven J. Hemsen - Southington CT, US
John P. Breault - New Britain CT, US
Assignee:
Henkel Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B65D 88/54
US Classification:
222389, 222334
Abstract:
The subject invention is a system for dispensing a controlled amount of fluid product from a dispensing container which includes a pneumatically driven dispensing actuator. This actuator includes a dispensing cylinder and a movable dispensing piston. The dispensing piston is movable under pneumatic pressure within the cylinder, the cylinder including a volume of hydraulic fluid under the pneumatic pressure acting against the dispensing piston to selectively prevent movement of the dispensing piston. The invention further includes a means for selectively reducing the volume of the hydraulic fluid in the dispensing cylinder to allow the controlled movement of the dispensing piston. The controlled movement of the dispensing piston causes controlled displacement of the fluid product from the dispensing container. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a force may be generated and applied to a plunger, which can be accurately controlled. As will be recognized by those skilled in the art, the force results in movement of the plunger, which, in turn, translates into an accurate amount of fluid product being dispensed from the dispensing container.

Dual Cartridge Pneumatic Dispenser Integrated With Disposable Anti-Drip Valve For Precision Dispensing

View page
US Patent:
20120285999, Nov 15, 2012
Filed:
Apr 20, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/451964
Inventors:
John P. BREAULT - New Britain CT, US
Andrew J. Bardon - West Hartford CT, US
Karl E. Gabrielson - Burlington CT, US
Assignee:
Henkel Corporation - Rocky Hill CT
International Classification:
B65D 5/72
US Classification:
222571
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an anti-drip valve for precision dispensing fluid from a cartridge. The anti-drip valve includes a y-shaped anti-drip valve body and a poppet extending therethrough. The body and poppet create a seal within the anti-drip valve and control the flow of fluid from the valve to a dispense tip.

Sealless Modular Dispenser

View page
US Patent:
49306693, Jun 5, 1990
Filed:
Apr 4, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/176877
Inventors:
Ewald F. Dickau - Glastonbury CT
John P. Breault - New Britain CT
Assignee:
Loctite Corporation - Newington CT
International Classification:
G01F 1106
US Classification:
222309
Abstract:
Modular apparatus for dispensing precise quantities of a fluid product including a dispensing unit and an actuator unit. A housing of the dispensing unit defines a reservoir which contains the product under pressure. Within the housing is a ball-type valve mechanism. A deformable diaphragm isolates the reservoir from the mechanism which actuates the valve to prevent undesirable entry of the product. The diaphragm may be of a number of shapes, depending upon the length of the stroke desired for the ball mechanism. The dispensing unit is readily removable from the actuator unit and can be readily replaced with another dispensing unit. Different nozzle sizes can also be accommodated. The extent of the valve opening is adjustable in discrete increments.
