Reinforced Chemical Mechanical Planarization Belt

View page
US Patent:
6666326, Dec 23, 2003
Filed:
Mar 12, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/097337
Inventors:
Diane J. Hymes - San Jose CA
Jibing Lin - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Lam Research Corporation - Fremont CA
International Classification:
B65G 1530
US Classification:
198846, 198847
Abstract:
A processing belt for use in chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), and methods for making the same, is provided. Embodiments of the processing belt include a mesh belt, and a polymeric material encasing the mesh belt to define the processing belt. The processing belt is fabricated so that the mesh belt forms a continuous loop within the polymeric material, and the mesh belt is constructed as a grid of intersecting members. The intersecting members are joined at fixed joints to form a rigid support structure for the processing belt.

Optical Switching Device Using Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals

View page
US Patent:
7301601, Nov 27, 2007
Filed:
May 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/850714
Inventors:
Jibing Lin - Fremont CA, US
Suning Tang - Fremont CA, US
Yuanji Tang - Palo Alto CA, US
Masami Aihara - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Alps Electric (USA) Inc. - Campbell CA
International Classification:
G02F 1/13
G02F 1/1335
US Classification:
349201, 349 61, 349114, 359253
Abstract:
A thin holographic optical switch used in a liquid crystal display device contains opposing transparent substrates transparent electrodes between the substrates and a diffraction grating between the electrodes. The diffraction grating contains regions of transparent polymerized photopolymers and cholesteric liquid crystal micro-droplets. Refractive indexes of the photopolymers and liquid crystal are substantially the same when the electrodes have the same potential. The holographic optical switch transmits broadband LED light when the potential difference between the electrodes is zero and is polarization independent. The holographic optical switch diffracts broadband LED light when the potential difference between the electrodes is non-zero and is polarization independent.

US Patent:
20030186630, Oct 2, 2003
Filed:
Mar 29, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/112447
Inventors:
Jibing Lin - Fremont CA, US
Diane Hymes - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Lam Research Corporation - Fremont CA
International Classification:
B24C003/08
B24C003/18
US Classification:
451/081000
Abstract:
A processing belt for use in chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), and methods for making the same, are provided. Embodiments of the processing belt include a polymeric material reinforced with a woven fabric or synthetic material encased between the polymeric material and an additional polymeric material layer to define the processing belt. The processing belt is fabricated so that the woven fabric forms a continuous loop and is positioned against a surface of the polymeric material. The additional polymeric material layer is applied over the woven fabric, permeating the woven fabric to bond to the polymeric material forming an integral structure of woven fabric reinforced polymeric material.

Polishing Media For Chemical Mechanical Planarization (Cmp)

View page
US Patent:
20040058623, Mar 25, 2004
Filed:
Feb 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/367439
Inventors:
Jibing Lin - Fremont CA, US
Robert Charatan - Portland OR, US
Assignee:
LAM RESEARCH CORPORATION - FREMONT CA
International Classification:
B24B001/00
US Classification:
451/041000
Abstract:
A polishing media for chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) includes a layer comprised of a CMP pad material having a water-soluble material comprised of cyclodextrin dispersed therein. The layer may form part of a pad configured for rotary CMP or part of a belt pad configured for linear CMP. In one method for conducting a CMP operation, a polishing media having a layer comprised of a CMP pad material with a water-soluble material comprised of cyclodextrin dispersed therein is contacted with a slurry, water, or an aqueous solution to remove the water-soluble material comprised of cyclodextrin from the CMP pad material. In another method, the water-soluble material comprised of cyclodextrin is removed from the CMP pad material before the CMP operation.
