View page
US Patent:
63020424, Oct 16, 2001
Filed:
Jan 22, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/234862
Inventors:
Baron R. Biedenweg - Fort Wayne IN
Jerome Ruda - Fort Wayne IN
Assignee:
Harris Kayot, Inc. - Fort Wayne IN
International Classification:
B63B 100
B63B 348
US Classification:
114 6122
Abstract:
A pontoon craft such as a vessel, a floating platform or a floating dock, having at least two pontoons, a deck extending between two of the pontoons, an elongate deck support bracket attached to a pontoon and having a first longitudinal slot which extends substantially the entire length of the bracket, and a fastener extending through the first slot and having a variable position therealong, wherein the deck is connected to the bracket by means of the fastener. The present invention also provides a pontoon craft having at least two pontoons, a deck extending between two of the pontoons, an elongate deck support bracket having a second longitudinal slot and attached to a surface of a pontoon at a joint, and an elongate trim member disposed in the second slot, the trim member depending from the second slot and covering the joint, whereby the joint is hidden from view.

Ladder For A Boat And Method Of Fabrication

View page
US Patent:
45482942, Oct 22, 1985
Filed:
Sep 22, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/421360
Inventors:
Jerome Ruda - Syracuse IN
Vernon L. Ludwig - Rome City IN
Assignee:
Harris Manufacturing Corporation
International Classification:
E06C 524
E06C 748
US Classification:
182206
Abstract:
A removable ladder for placement over the side of a boat and extension into water for aiding ingress and egress of swimmers and the like is disclosed and includes a pair of elongated, generally parallel extending upright members terminating at respective first ends in boat engaging hooks with a series of cross members extending generally parallel to one another and spanning the upright members to form a sequence of steps. Each step may comprise a pair of laterally displaced cross members and the boat engaging hooks may be formed as a pair of generally orthogonal projections one extending parallel to and displaced from the direction of upright member elongation while the other extends generally parallel to and displaced from the step forming cross members so that the hooks may be positioned behind upright portions of the boat railing to secure the ladder in place and obviate the need for handrails on the ladder, since the railing upright portions may be used as handgrip regions when using the ladder. A technique for forming such a ladder from hollow aluminum tubing of generally square cross sectional configuration is also disclosed.

US Patent:
62340980, May 22, 2001
Filed:
Jun 25, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/340267
Inventors:
Baron R. Biedenweg - Fort Wayne IN
David L. Putman - Rome City IN
Jerome Ruda - Fort Wayne IN
Assignee:
Harris Kayot, Inc. - Fort Wayne IN
International Classification:
B63B 300
US Classification:

Abstract:
A pontoon boat having a flotation device, a deck, and a pair of side rails. The flotation device includes at least two pontoons and a support frame extending between the pontoons and having a pair of side edges. The deck is disposed atop the flotation device and has a top surface and a pair of side edges. The side rail has a generally angled shape and comprises a generally horizontal leg and a generally vertical leg. A free edge of the horizontal leg overlies a portion of the deck proximal a deck side edge. The vertical second leg depends over the support frame side edge. The horizontal leg substantially, horizontally extends the deck The rails include aligned inboard channels. Adjacent rails connect to one another by means of a plate or other member disposed in and attached to the inboard channel at the terminal ends of two adjoining rails providing for a non-overlapping joint.
