Ammonia Injection Grid For A Selective Catalytic Reduction System

View page
US Patent:
8017084, Sep 13, 2011
Filed:
Jun 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/137324
Inventors:
Jeffrey Philip Wirt - Tulsa OK, US
Richard Martin - Tulsa OK, US
Assignee:
Callidus Technologies, L.L.C. - Tulsa OK
International Classification:
B01D 53/90
US Classification:
422172, 422176, 261118, 366337
Abstract:
An ammonia injection grid for a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that provides uniform distribution of ammonia to the SCR catalyst in NOreduction systems for heat recovery steam generation systems, packaged boilers, simple cycle catalyst systems and fired heaters for superior operational efficiency. The ammonia injection grid includes an injection tube having at least one nozzle for injecting ammonia into a flow of flue gas. The ammonia injection grid also includes a corrugated turbulence enhancer associated with the injection tube to generate turbulent wake to enhance turbulent mixing.

Air Ammonia Heater And Vaporization Chamber System

View page
US Patent:
8145044, Mar 27, 2012
Filed:
Jun 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/137275
Inventors:
Jeffrey Philip Wirt - Tulsa OK, US
Dan W. Ott - Spring City PA, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
A61H 33/06
US Classification:
392394, 423235, 392396
Abstract:
An air ammonia heater and vaporization chamber system utilizing a contiguous vaporization chamber having an inlet for receiving dilution air, which is passed across at least one heating element integrated into the vaporization chamber to heat and pre-heat the vaporization chamber. Aqueous or anhydrous ammonia is injected from at least one ammonia injector, which is integrated into the vaporization chamber, into the heated dilution air. The heated ammonia/air mixture may then be passed through a bed of packing prior to being released from the vaporization chamber. The bed of packing maintains the heated, homogenous ammonia/air mixture at a minimum temperature of 350 F. to ensure the air/ammonia mixture does not condense. The air ammonia heater and vaporization chamber system may be used in the vaporization and bleeding of ammonia with air for NOreduction in the flue gas from heat recovery steam generation systems, packaged boilers, simple cycle catalyst systems or fired heaters.

Multi-Bed Selective Catalytic Reduction System

View page
US Patent:
7638107, Dec 29, 2009
Filed:
Jun 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/137302
Inventors:
Jeffrey Philip Wirt - Tulsa OK, US
Dan W. Ott - Spring City PA, US
Brian James Duck - Tulsa OK, US
Assignee:
Callidus Technologies, LLC - Tulsa OK
International Classification:
B01D 53/56
B01D 53/62
B01D 53/86
B01D 53/90
US Classification:
4232391, 423246, 423247, 422168, 422169, 422170, 422171, 422172, 422177, 422180
Abstract:
A multi-bed selective catalytic reduction system comprising a gas input duct, a first ammonia injection grid assembly located downstream from the gas input duct, a first selective catalytic reduction catalyst assembly located downstream from the first ammonia injection grid assembly, a second ammonia injection grid assembly located downstream from the first selective catalytic reduction catalyst assembly, a second selective catalytic reduction catalyst assembly located downstream from the second ammonia injection grid assembly, and an exhaust stack located downstream from the second selective catalytic reduction catalyst assembly. By passing a combustion waste stream through two sets of ammonia injection grid assemblies and selective catalytic reduction catalyst assemblies, the multi-bed selective catalytic reduction system removes more nitrogen oxide emissions from the waste stream, uses less ammonia to do so, and results in less ammonia emissions than systems with only one ammonia injection grid assembly and selective catalytic reduction catalyst assembly.

Fluid Flow Mixer

US Patent:
20140134085, May 15, 2014
Filed:
Nov 14, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/677102
Inventors:
- Calgary, CA
JEFFREY PHILIP WIRT - Tulsa OK, US
Assignee:
ATCO STRUCTURES & LOGISTICS LTD. - Calgary
International Classification:
B01F 5/06
US Classification:
423210, 366336, 366337, 422168
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for injecting and mixing a treating agent into a fluid stream. The apparatus comprises at least one pipe having a treating agent flowing therethrough. A flow mixer having a planar middle section with two furcated sides is disposed along the length of the pipe. Each furcated side may include at least two branches, each of which may have a flattened outer edge. The pipe has holes that may inject the treating agent towards the planar middle section. Adjacent flow mixers are separated by a distance. As fluid flows into and past the flow mixers, the injected treating agent is mixed with the fluid stream and the mixing is enhanced in turbulent mixing zones in between the flow mixers.
