Controller With Information Conveying Backlight Module And Cable For Connecting The Controller To An Automated Tool

View page
US Patent:
7347735, Mar 25, 2008
Filed:
Mar 24, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/388209
Inventors:
William L. Naumann - Chardon OH, US
Craig A. Montross - Hartville OH, US
Zuher Khalaf - Troy MI, US
Jeffrey S. Aranowski - Macomb MI, US
Doug Versele - Westland MI, US
Assignee:
The Stanley Works - New Britain CT
International Classification:
H01R 33/00
US Classification:
439660, 439502
Abstract:
A controller that controls an automated tool that comprises a monochromatic display, a backlighting module, and a processor. The monochromatic display comprises a plurality of pixels that are selectively activated and deactivated to convey information to a user. The backlighting module provides a backlight for the display, wherein the backlighting module is capable of controllably changing the color of the backlight. The processor that controls the display to selectively activate and deactivate the plurality of pixels to convey information about the automated tool, and wherein the processor controls the backlighting module such that the backlight provided by the backlighting module conveys information about the automated tool.

Hand-Held Type Electrically Powered Fastener Tool With On-Board Controller

US Patent:
20030131462, Jul 17, 2003
Filed:
Dec 17, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/320723
Inventors:
William Kimmel - West St. Paul MN, US
Jeffrey Aranowski - Sterling Heights MI, US
Zuher Khalaf - Troy MI, US
Leonard Demchak - Streetsboro OH, US
International Classification:
B23Q017/00
US Classification:
029/407020, 700/168000
Abstract:
An aspect of the invention provides a hand-held type fastener tool for performing a fastening job using electrical power supplied from an electrical power source. The tool comprises an electrically-powered motor, having an electroconductive outer housing adapted to electrically couple to the earth ground line of the electrical power source, a stator, and a rotor. The motor electrically couples to the live and neutral lines of the electrical power source. An on-board controller is adapted to monitor the fastening job and perform predetermined operations in accordance with the logic scheme based on the monitoring of the fastening job. The tool further comprises a shield comprising: (a) an electroconductive element encircling the stator and adapted to electrically couple to the neutral line of the power source, (b) a first insulation layer encircling the stator between the stator and the electroconductive element, and (c) a second insulation layer encircling the electroconductive element between the electroconductive element and the electroconductive housing.

Software-Controlled Electronic Circuit For Switching Power To A Three-Phase Motor

View page
US Patent:
20170201203, Jul 13, 2017
Filed:
Feb 3, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/423749
Inventors:
- New Britain CT, US
Jeffrey Scott ARANOWSKI - Macomb MI, US
International Classification:
H02P 27/08
H02P 21/06
H02P 23/00
H02P 25/18
Abstract:
The circuit for controlling a rotating three-phase motor of the type having three interconnected motor coils each corresponding to one of three phases employs a plurality of switching circuit components, each connected to the motor to supply current to one of the coils. A signal generator circuit produces in synchronism with the rotation of the motor a variable duty cycle pulse-width modulated signal for each of the switching circuit components. A logic gating circuit is coupled to the signal generator circuit and to the switching components. The logic gating circuit is operative to cause the switching circuit components to selectively place pairs of motor coils in current conducting states such that when the variable duty cycle pulse-width modulated signals are each concurrently in the same logical on-off state, the logic gating circuit supplies a logical off state to each of the switching circuit components.
