Combination Leaf And Lawn Debris Blower, Comminuting Vacuum, And Wood Chipper

View page
US Patent:
57070172, Jan 13, 1998
Filed:
Jul 9, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/679409
Inventors:
James Paolucci - Pottstown PA
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Racine WI
Assignee:
MacKissic Inc. - Parker Ford PA
International Classification:
B02C 1806
US Classification:
241 55
Abstract:
An apparatus for comminuting lawn debris comprises an impeller housing defined by a pair of opposed axial end walls and a substantially voluted peripheral wall therebetween and includes inlet openings located on opposite end walls for introducing material into the housing and a discharge opening located on the peripheral wall for discharging material from the housing. The impeller is rotatably mounted on a drive shaft within the housing. The impeller includes a backing plate and a plurality of radially extending blades fixed to one face of the backing plate. The impeller blades cause air to be drawn in from an inlet opening and to be propelled axially into the housing and through the discharge opening. The comminuting blades shred material within the housing thereby reducing the size of the material. A chipper knife is attached to the face of the impeller opposite the blades for chipping material passing into the housing through one of the inlet openings.

Attachment Arrangement For Mower Reel Drive

View page
US Patent:
59410574, Aug 24, 1999
Filed:
Dec 8, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/986452
Inventors:
Gregory J. Chesack - Kenosha WI
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Union Grove WI
Assignee:
Textron Inc. - Providence RI
International Classification:
A01D 3453
US Classification:
56249
Abstract:
An attachment arrangement and method for mower reel drive wherein the rotating reel has its shaft rotatably mounted on a mower frame, and a rotational drive motor is also mounted on the frame. The facility of making the connection between the motor and the frame and of aligning the parts along a longitudinal axis for the drive relationship, are both involved, and pin connections are employed to achieve those objectives.

Socket Drive Improvement

US Patent:
20230083975, Mar 16, 2023
Filed:
Nov 8, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/983186
Inventors:
- Kenosha WI, US
Christopher D. Thompson - Franklin WI, US
Gene E. Olson - Kenosha WI, US
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Kenosha WI, US
Assignee:
Snap-on Incorporated - Kenosha WI
International Classification:
B25B 13/06
Abstract:
Tools, for example, hexagon sockets, dodecagonal sockets, splined sockets, wrenches, etc., that have inner surface geometries adapted to engage a flank of a fastener at a point away from a corner of the fastener. This increases the strength and life of the socket, reduces a risk of the fastener becoming locked or stuck in the socket, and reduces the risk of the fastener being stripped or the socket slipping on the fastener.

US Patent:
20200306820, Oct 1, 2020
Filed:
Jun 6, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/433754
Inventors:
- Kenosha WI, US
Steven R. Wente - Kenosha WI, US
David G. McGreal - Twin Lakes WI, US
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Union Grove WI, US
Assignee:
Snap-on Incorporated - Kenosha WI
International Classification:
B21J 13/02
B25B 23/00
B23P 17/02
B23H 9/12
B21K 1/76
B23H 5/06
Abstract:
A punch, such as a socket punch, with an angle on a portion of the punch and method of manufacturing a punch with an angle on a portion of the punch using wire EDM. A punch for a cold forming process includes a base portion adapted to be a structural backbone for the punch and a work portion extending from the base portion that performs a punching operation. In addition, grooves and a hex portion are formed in the working portion with an electric discharge machining (“EDM”) machine. Further, a cone point is machined on an end of the hex portion and a land area with an inwardly tapered angle formed between the hex portion and the cone point. The punch can be manufactured more quickly and from a CAD model, therefore removing the need for over-specialized equipment and improving manufacturing times.

Method Of Manufacturing Socket Punches

US Patent:
20200238412, Jul 30, 2020
Filed:
Jan 25, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/258032
Inventors:
- Kenosha WI, US
Steven R. Wente - Kenosha WI, US
David G. McGreal - Twin Lakes WI, US
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Union Grove WI, US
Assignee:
Snap-on Incorporated - Kenosha WI
International Classification:
B23H 5/04
B23H 9/12
B21D 37/01
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a punch, such as a socket punch, using wire EDM with at least six steps. The method involves forming a blank, holding the blank with an adapter, machining grooves in the blank, manufacturing a side relief of a working portion using wire EDM, milling the working portion to a final size, and forming a cone point on the end of the working portion. The method allows the punch to be manufactured more quickly and from a CAD model, therefore removing the need for over-specialized equipment and improving manufacturing times.

Tool Head With Groove For Removal From Lug

View page
US Patent:
20190022834, Jan 24, 2019
Filed:
Sep 28, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/719223
Inventors:
- Kenosha WI, US
Jeffrey M. Arendt - Union Grove WI, US
Glenn A. Kaufman - Racine WI, US
Assignee:
Snap-on Incorporated - Kenosha WI
International Classification:
B25B 23/00
B25B 13/06
Abstract:
Disclosed is a tool head, such as a socket, having an annular groove that allows gripping of the tool head to remove the tool head from a tool having a lug, such as ratchet, torque or impact wrenches. The groove is spaced from the drive engagement end of the socket for improved gripping performance. The groove dimensions were determined to improve gripping performance as well. For example, the groove can have a depth of 0.020″-0.050″, preferably 0.020″-0.030″. More broadly, the groove can have a depth of 5.0%-15.0%, and preferably 5.0%-10.5%, of the drive end outer diameter. The groove can, either alone or in combination with the above ranges, have a width of 0.25-0.47″, preferably 0.29-0.43″. The groove can, either alone or in combination with the above ranges, begin at a distance of 0.070-0.160″, preferably 0.090-0.140″, and have an end of groove farthest from the end of the socket of 0.32-0.63″, preferably 0.38-0.57″.
