Methods For Performing Simulation Of Surfactant Flooding Of A Hydrocarbon Reservoir

View page
US Patent:
7983886, Jul 19, 2011
Filed:
Sep 10, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/852679
Inventors:
Irene Lee Gullapalli - San Ramon CA, US
Mark Chih-Hung - Danville CA, US
Assignee:
Chevron U.S.A. Inc. - San Ramon CA
International Classification:
G06G 7/48
US Classification:
703 10
Abstract:
The present invention performs numerical simulation of surfactant flooding during enhanced oil recovery of a given hydrocarbon reservoir. The present invention utilizes an improved method for determining relative permeability while maintaining physical consistency when the phase behavior varies between different phase Types. This new relative permeability model maintains the physical consistency in the transition from Type II(−) to Type III to Type II(+) systems and vice versa.

US Patent:
20090065210, Mar 12, 2009
Filed:
Sep 10, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/852833
Inventors:
Irene Gullapalli - San Ramon CA, US
Emrys Jones - Fallbrook CA, US
George Moridis - Oakland CA, US
International Classification:
E21B 43/24
E21B 36/00
US Classification:
166302, 166374
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to using depressurization methods to create mobile fluid zones for producing fluids from a Class 3 hydrate reservoirs through a well. Aspects of the present invention include a two stage method wherein, the first stage includes producing fluid from a hydrate interval within the Class 3 hydrate reservoir through a well at a constant pressure and forming an interface, arid the second stage includes producing fluid through the interface at a constant mass rate and heating the well.
