Abstract:
A decompression panel assembly for use in a partition of an aircraft is disclosed. The decompression panel assembly includes a panel member that fits over a decompression vent opening in a partition. The panel member includes multiple holes. The same number of cover plates are positioned to cover the holes and are held in place by retainer elements. The retainer elements are made from a thin gauged metal material and secure the cover plates over the holes. Several retaining spring clips are positioned about the perimeter of the panel member and secure the decompression panel assembly against the partition to cover the decompression vent opening.

Abstract:
A frangible aircraft floor includes a floor support having at least one opening formed therethrough. A thin film is positioned with respect to the opening and is provided with a frangible seam which ruptures when a predetermined pressure difference exists on opposing sides of the film to allow increased airflow through the opening to equalize pressure between the compartments in the event of a sudden loss in pressure.

Abstract:
A smoke detector unit with a fan that creates an airstream which flows through a smoke detector. Both the fan and the smoke detector are located within a housing that is mounted to the fuselage of an airplane. The smoke detector generates an output signal that is provided to an indicator when a threshold level of smoke is detected. The output signal is typically latched by a relay that is also located within the housing.
