Ultraviolet Water Purifier

View page
US Patent:
6583422, Jun 24, 2003
Filed:
Oct 11, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/975231
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY
Assignee:
Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation - Hauppauge NY
International Classification:
G01N 201
US Classification:
250432R, 250436
Abstract:
An ultraviolet water purifier that includes a chamber tube, a pair of chamber heads, a pair of replaceable primary chamber clamps, a quartz sleeve, and a germicidal ultraviolet lamp. The chamber tube is length adjustable. The pair of chamber heads are rotatably attached to the ends of the chamber tube, respectively, so as to allow the pair of chamber heads to be rotated relative to the chamber tube as desired and provide independently configurable inlet and outlet orientations. The pair of replaceable primary chamber clamps rotatably and interchangeably attach the pair of chamber heads to the ends of the chamber tube, respectively, so as to allow the pair of chamber heads to be readily rotated relative to the chamber tube, interchanged as desired, and allow for more complete disassembly of the purifier. The quartz sleeve extends axially through the chamber tube and the pair of chamber heads. The germicidal ultraviolet lamp extends axially through the quartz sleeve.

Ultraviolet Water Disinfection Reactor For Installing In An Existing Water Pipeline

View page
US Patent:
6752971, Jun 22, 2004
Filed:
Jan 7, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/041110
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY
Assignee:
Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation - Hauppauge NY
International Classification:
B01J 1908
US Classification:
4221863, 422186
Abstract:
An ultraviolet water disinfection reactor installed in an existing water pipeline including a body positioned between a pair of ends formed by dividing the pipeline, a plurality of Quartz sleeves extending through the body, a plurality of ultraviolet lamps extending through the plurality of sleeves, respectively, and a plurality of ballasts electrically communicating with the plurality of lamps, respectively, so as to allow each of the plurality of lamps to have a separate power unit. The plurality of sleeves extend through the body transversely to the axial direction of flow so as to be of varying lengths relative to each other. The plurality of sleeves lie in a plane that is perpendicular to the axial direction of flow so as to provide minimal flow restriction and pressure drop and a relatively uniform irradiance field of exposure by virtue of no path passing far from one of the plurality of lamps.

Self-Darkening Shield For Replaceably Attaching To A Torch

View page
US Patent:
7126085, Oct 24, 2006
Filed:
Aug 3, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/195841
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY, US
International Classification:
B23K 9/32
US Classification:
219147
Abstract:
A self-darkening shield for replaceably attaching to a torch. The self-darkening shield includes a shield and apparatus. The shield replaceably attaches to the torch, is self-darkening, and is a plate that is substantially inverted U-shaped to straddle the torch to provide shielding not only above the torch but also to its sides. The apparatus is operatively connected to the shield and replaceably attaches the shield to the torch.

Combination Socket And Photosensor For Measuring And Adjusting Intensity Of Lamp In The Socket

View page
US Patent:
7372010, May 13, 2008
Filed:
Nov 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/987516
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY, US
International Classification:
G01J 1/32
US Classification:
250205, 250239
Abstract:
A combination socket and photosensor for measuring and adjusting intensity of a lamp in the socket of the combination socket and photosensor. A socket receives and electrically communicates with the lamp. A photosensor is operatively connected to the socket and measures the intensity of the lamp. A controller electrically communicates with the lamp and the photosensor and contains a feed back loop. The feed back loop electrically communicates with the photosensor and the lamp and compares the intensity of the lamp to a predetermined value and adjusts the intensity of the lamp accordingly.

Germicidal Lamp

View page
US Patent:
8004166, Aug 23, 2011
Filed:
Feb 1, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/657985
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY, US
International Classification:
H01J 61/34
US Classification:
313 25, 313493, 313573, 313634, 313639, 42218607
Abstract:
An improved germicidal lamp of the type containing mercury, having a ceramic base, and disposed in, and preventing contact with, a transparent quartz sleeve to prevent formation of a cold spot in the germicidal lamp caused by an undesirable thermal transfer between the lamp and the sleeve and which causes condensation of the mercury at the cold spot in the germicidal lamp. The improvement includes the ceramic base having a circumferential groove therearound, and a thermally insulating ring siting in the circumferential groove of the ceramic base so as to prevent the ceramic base from contacting the sleeve to prevent formation of the cold spot in the germicidal lamp caused by the undesirable thermal transfer between the lamp and the sleeve and prevent the condensation of the mercury at the cold spot in the germicidal lamp.

Resilient Discharge Lamp

View page
US Patent:
20050258758, Nov 24, 2005
Filed:
May 21, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/850620
Inventors:
Hilary Boehme - Hauppauge NY, US
International Classification:
H01J017/20
H01J061/12
H01J061/30
H01J017/16
US Classification:
313634000, 313573000
Abstract:
A resilient discharge lamp. The resilient discharge lamp includes a tube, electrodes, and a gas. The electrodes are disposed at opposite ends of the tube, and the gas fills the tube. The tube is of such a diameter so as to be resilient and allow the resilient discharge lamp to be bent repetitively as desired. In an alternate embodiment, the opposite ends of the tube are widened to provide more space for the electrodes. In another alternate embodiment, the tube is bent onto itself so as to form a generally U-shape.
