View page
US Patent:
6732487, May 11, 2004
Filed:
Nov 20, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/989596
Inventors:
Hichem Bouraoui - Arlington Heights IL
Dave Anchor - Union IL
Peter Agren - Buffalo Grove IL
Assignee:
Tetra Laval Holdings Finance, S.A. - Pully
International Classification:
B67B 106
US Classification:
533315, 53317, 53 75
Abstract:
A post processing cap applicator for applying a cap to a closure spout after erection, spout attachment, filling and sealing of a carton accommodates custom caps. Cartons are conveyed through the applicator in a first forward direction. A cap supply is configured to dispense caps and to position an edge of a cap in a path defined by movement of the closure spout through the applicator. The closure spout engages the edge of the cap. The applicator includes a rotating, torque-applying element and a drive operably connected to the torque-applying element. The drive is operable in a first direction to tighten the cap onto the spout to a predetermined torque and, once the predetermined torque is reached, to stop tightening the cap. A method for post processing cap application is also disclosed.

Laminated Packaging Material Having Fluted Medium

US Patent:
61199281, Sep 19, 2000
Filed:
Feb 4, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/018778
Inventors:
Rolf Lasson - Lund, SE
Theo Louman - Hoor, SE
Rickard Norenstam - Kavlinge, SE
Hichem Bouraoui - Palatine IL
Patrick Duvander - Lund, SE
Assignee:
Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance, SA - Pully
International Classification:
B65D 300
US Classification:
229 582
Abstract:
A laminated packaging material for fabrication into a container for a flowable food product is disclosed herein. The laminated packaging material has a fluted medium between a first layer and second layer. The fluted medium may have a flute density of 200 to 450 flutes per linear foot. The fluted medium may also have a flute height profile of 8 mils to 50 mils. The laminated packaging material may be fabricated into a gabletop carton or a parallelepiped container such as the TETRA BRIK. RTM. container. The laminated packaging material may have a barrier layer such as aluminum or another gas impermeable composition. The laminated packaging material provides substantial material savings due to the fluted medium.

US Patent:
58296727, Nov 3, 1998
Filed:
May 14, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/856350
Inventors:
Jens Mogard - Buffalo Grove IL
Hichem T. Bouraoui - Palatine IL
Antonio Rendina - Carpi, IT
Assignee:
Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance, SA - Pully
International Classification:
B65D 570
B65D 574
US Classification:
22912515
Abstract:
A container and closure package includes container material stock formed of a severable material defining an opening therein defining a removable confetti portion and a dispensing member molded to the material stock. The dispensing member is superimposed over the opening to substantially overlie the confetti portion. The confetti portion can be ejected from the material stock when the dispensing member is molded to the container stock and can be integrated into the closure package to form a portion thereof. The dispensing member can be a spout and can include a cover or cap integral therewith. The cap is formed with the confetti portion forming a portion of the top wall thereof. Alternately, the closure package includes a spout, such as a threaded spout which is formed extending from the container stock. The confetti portion is formed integral with the spout to establish a seal therefor. The seal can be gas-impermeable.

Corrugated Gabletop Carton

US Patent:
58487484, Dec 15, 1998
Filed:
Jun 19, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/879096
Inventors:
Hichem T. Bouraoui - Palatine IL
Patrick Duvander - Lund, SE
Assignee:
Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance, S.A. - Pully
International Classification:
B65D 574
US Classification:
22912542
Abstract:
A gabletop carton for storing liquid, viscous and solid material includes a carton material stock formed of paperboard having at least an inner facing sheet, an outer facing sheet and a fluted medium fixedly positioned between the inner and outer facing sheets. The fluted medium is positioned between the inner and outer facing sheets so as to define substantially flat, inner and outer facing sheet surfaces. The carton material stock is formed to define a bottom wall, a plurality of upstanding side walls and a top portion having a gable configuration. The bottom wall is contiguous with the upstanding side walls which are defined by a plurality of side wall creases in the material stock. The bottom wall is defined by a plurality of bottom wall creases in the material stock that are generally transverse to the side wall creases. The top portion is formed by a plurality of top wall creases generally parallel to the bottom wall creases, and a plurality of angled gable creases formed in at least some of the side walls so as to form inner and outer gable walls.

Tetrahedral Top Carton

View page
US Patent:
60169532, Jan 25, 2000
Filed:
Aug 14, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/911448
Inventors:
Russell Stacy-Ryan - Chicago IL
Hichem Bouraoui - Palatine IL
Nicholas Cook - Act, AU
Assignee:
Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance, SA - Pully
International Classification:
B65D 4300
US Classification:
22912515
Abstract:
The present invention is tetrahedral top carton and a blank therefor. The carton has at least a nine percent material savings over a traditional gable top carton containing an equal volume of product. The carton has a tetrahedral top structure formed from four top panels intersecting and sealed adjacently. The carton may have a fitment thereon for accessing the contents. The fitment may be placed on the pinnacle of the tetrahedral top structure or on a single top panel. The carton may have outward folded fins projecting from the intersection of the top panels, or the fins may be folded inward to create a diagonal crease/edge in the intersection between adjacent top panels. The carton may also have an overfolded bottom for reverse filling on a form, fill and seal packaging machine.
