A gel composition exhibiting improved stand-up and efficacy in treating dentine hypersensitivity which composition contains about 0. 3 to about 1. 0% by weight SnF. sub. 2, about 87 to about 97% by weight anhydrous glycerine and about 2. 0 to about 10% by weight of a polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 1000.
