7089922, Aug 15, 2006
Filed:
Dec 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/023027
Inventors:
Frederick H. Lindner - North Vernon IN, US
Assignee:
Cummins, Incorporated - Colombus IN
International Classification:
F02D 41/00
F02D 41/30
US Classification:
123673, 60275
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for minimizing NOin exhaust gasses. The apparatus includes an ionization module configured to at least partially ionize an exhaust gas of an engine. A characterization module is configured to identify NOions present in the ionized exhaust gas, and an engine control module is configured to communicate with the characterization module and modify engine parameters in response to identified NOlevels. The system includes an internal combustion engine having an intake manifold configured to deliver an air-fuel mixture to at least one combustion chamber, an exhaust manifold configured to receive exhaust gasses from the combustion chamber, and the apparatus. The method includes controlling an ionization module configured to at least partially ionize an exhaust gas of an engine, identifying NOions present in the ionized exhaust gas, and modifying one or more selected engine parameters in response to identified NOlevels.

F02B 47/08
US Classification:
12356822, 123704, 606052
Abstract:
The present invention provides an internal combustion engine system that includes an internal combustion engine system includes an internal combustion engine having an intake manifold fluidly coupled to a compressor adapted to receive ambient air through an air conduit of the engine, a first sensor positioned at least one of inside and outside the air conduit and configured to measure a first water content in the ambient air, and a second sensor positioned at least one of inside the intake manifold and upstream of the intake manifold and configured to measure a second water content in the intake manifold.

Apparatus, System, And Method For Aftertreatment Control And Diagnostics

View page
US Patent:
20140007559, Jan 9, 2014
Filed:
Jul 3, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/541137
Inventors:
John M. Janssen - Henrico VA, US
Frederick H. Lindner - North Vernon IN, US
Matthew L. Schneider - Seymour IN, US
International Classification:
F01N 11/00
G06G 7/64
G01M 15/10
US Classification:
60276, 7311471, 703 7
Abstract:
A method includes providing an exhaust stream for an internal combustion engine, where the exhaust stream is fluidly coupled to an aftertreatment component. The method includes optically determining an amount of an exhaust gas constituent in the exhaust stream. The method further includes modifying a model stored on a computer readable medium in response to the amount of the exhaust gas constituent. The model is an engine NOgeneration model, a catalyst NOstorage model, a catalyst NOconversion model, a catalyst NO to NOconversion model, a catalyst conversion efficiency model, an engine soot generation model, and/or a urea hydrolysis model.

Computer Aided Printer-Etcher

View page
US Patent:
47674890, Aug 30, 1988
Filed:
Mar 25, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/029923
Inventors:
Frederick H. Lindner - Canaan NH
Assignee:
PC Proto, Inc. - Hanover NH
International Classification:
C23F 102
B44C 122
C03C 1500
G06F 15606
US Classification:
156345
Abstract:
A computer aided printer-etcher has a computer connected electrically to a printer etcher unit, such that the printer etcher unit is controlled by the computer through the keyboard and computer memory. The printer etcher unit mounts an etching chamber within a cabinet. A conveyor within the cabinet defining a conveyor film path for a metallized film which path includes a vertically oblique portion within the etching chamber. A high speed printer upstream of the etching chamber and on the conveyor film path applies a resist ink pattern onto the metal surface of the metalized film. A liquid applicator mounted downstream of the printer applies in sequence an etching liquid and a rinse liquid onto the metalized film to etch the exposed metal but not the metal covered by the resist ink pattern. The printer may be an ink jet printer. The resist may be a meltable or thermoplastic material applied as molten drops which solidify to lock out the etching liquid.

Multi-Layer Rigid Prototype Printed Circuit Board Fabrication Method

View page
US Patent:
51724723, Dec 22, 1992
Filed:
Aug 15, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/745314
Inventors:
Frederick H. Lindner - Canaan NH
Paul A. Duncanson - Franklin NH
Assignee:
Direct Imaging Inc. - West Lebanon NH
International Classification:
H01R 914
US Classification:
29845
Abstract:
A multi-layer rigid prototype printed circuit board is fabricated by applying a heat activated, rapid setting or tacking melt-remelt adhesive utilizing a moderate temperature heat laminating device onto appropriate surfaces of pre-etched and plated insulative film based, flexible film layers. A computer guided drill drills through-holes within an electrical insulative material planar substrate core using prescribed drill sizes for each through-hole pin size desired for a given hole location. The etched layers with the adhesive applied are positioned in proper sequence aligned to the drilled hole pattern and heat laminated thereto as a stacked array on the top and/or bottom surfaces of the substrate core. Computer guided drilling of the adhered films with prescribed smaller drill sizes at each through-hole location is effected to create film cantilever portions extending radially outwardly of the edge of the through-holes. Unique, polygonal or like cross-section through-hole connector pins are inserted into the aligned holes within the flexible film layers and the substrate, with the pins having at least one radial projection forming a sharp corner which cuts into the conductor tracks of the multi-layer flexible film array to deflect and deform the cantilever edge portion of the multi-layer flexible films into the substrate through-holes for effecting a low impedance conductor track to pin to conductor track electrical connection for a plurality of the films.
