Boosted Phase Driver

View page
US Patent:
45995206, Jul 8, 1986
Filed:
Jan 31, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/575612
Inventors:
John A. Gabric - Essex Junction VT
Edward F. O'Neil - Essex VT
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
H03K 5135
H03K 502
H03K 1710
H03K 17687
US Classification:
307578
Abstract:
An FET double boosted clock driver for producing a clock signal having an amplitude greater than the drain supply voltage. The clock output of a second clock driver is capacitively coupled to the clock output of a first clock driver. The second clock driver boosts the voltage on the source of an enhancement mode (output) FET of the first clock driver. The output FET has its gate connected to a bootstrapped node and its drain connected to a drain voltage source (VDD). A depletion mode FET forms a feedback path between the source of the output node FET and the bootstrapped node. When the bootstrapped node is bootstrapped to VDD+VT, the output FET precharges the clock output to VDD. When the potential of the clock output approaches VDD, the depletion mode FET discharges the bootstrapped node to an input clock. Thus, the potential of the gate of the output FET is clamped to the drain supply voltage when the output is subsequently boosted by the capacitively coupled second clock driver, without adversely effecting the timing and the precharging of the enhancement mode output FET.

Semiconductor Memory System Having Sense Amplifier Being Activated Late During Clock Cycle

View page
US Patent:
55110312, Apr 23, 1996
Filed:
Aug 31, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/298649
Inventors:
David B. Grover - South Hero VT
Edward F. O'Neil - Essex Junction VT
Robert A. Ross - Essex Junction VT
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G11C 702
US Classification:
365208
Abstract:
A memory system is provided wherein array signals begin at the start of a first phase of a system clock and a sense amplifier set signal is developed during a second phase of the system clock which includes an array of memory cells including word lines and bit lines, word drivers connected to the word lines, a word address decoder enabled by the first phase of the clock system and coupled to the word drivers, a bit switch coupling a bit line to a sense amplifier, a system clock inverting circuit, a timing circuit having a first input connected to a late select signal, a second input connected to the inverting circuit and an output connected to the bit switch and a delay circuit having an input coupled to the inverting circuit and an output connected to the sense amplifier.

Device Contact Structure And Method For Fabricating Same

View page
US Patent:
60906731, Jul 18, 2000
Filed:
Oct 20, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/175304
Inventors:
Archibald J. Allen - Shelburne VT
Toshiharu Furukawa - Essex Junction VT
Edward F. O'Neil - Essex Junction VT
Mark C. Hakey - Milton VT
Roger A. Verhelst - Colchester VT
David V. Horak - Essex Junction VT
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
H01L 21336
H01L 213205
US Classification:
438301
Abstract:
The present invention overcomes the difficulties found in the background art by providing a direct low resistive contact between devices on a semiconductor chip without excessive current leakage. Current leakage is prevented in the preferred design by using silicon on insulator (SOI) construction for the chip. By constructing the direct contact over an insulator, such as silicon dioxide, current leakage is minimized. The preferred embodiment uses silicide to connect a polysilicon gate to a doped region of the substrate. An alternative embodiment of the present invention provides for the use of conductive studs to electrically connect devices. An increased density of approximately twenty percent may be realized using the present invention.

G06F 17/30
H04L 12/58
G06Q 50/00
Abstract:
A client device provides to a user, in an application associated with a social-networking service provided by a server system, a link to a page associated with a third-party service provider. The third-party service provider is distinct from the social-networking service. In response to user selection of the link, the page is loaded within the application. The page includes script for calling one or more application programming interfaces (APIs) of the server system. The client device calls the one or more APIs to obtain information associated with the user from the server system. The client device displays the page within the application, and uses the information associated with the user to conduct a transaction with the third-party service provider through the page.
