Method And System For Processing A Request Based On Indexed Digital Video Data

View page
US Patent:
56025823, Feb 11, 1997
Filed:
Nov 22, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/344305
Inventors:
Tammy M. Wanderscheid - Highland Ranch CO
Martin D. Siebring - Aurora CO
Kurt P. Haldeman - Aurora CO
Assignee:
U S West Marketing Resources Group, Inc. - Engelwood CO
International Classification:
H04N 7173
US Classification:
348 12
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for processing an input signal related to streamed digital video data. The method is directed to an interactive media network employing a client-server architecture. The method begins with initializing a counter. The counter may represent an elapsed time or a frame number. Next, the client station receives streamed digital video data representing multimedia information. The counter is then updated and the multimedia information represented by the streamed digital video data is displayed. Next, the input signal representing a user request is received at the user station. An index based on the value of the counter is then determined, and the method concludes by transferring execution control based on the index. A system is also disclosed for processing the steps of the above-described method.

Method And System For Delivering An Application In An Interactive Television Network

View page
US Patent:
55835635, Dec 10, 1996
Filed:
Jan 12, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/371730
Inventors:
Tammy M. Wanderscheid - Highland Ranch CO
Martin D. Siebring - Aurora CO
Kurt P. Haldeman - Aurora CO
Assignee:
US West Marketing Resources Group, Inc. - Englewood CO
International Classification:
H04N 7173
US Classification:
348 13
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for dynamically transferring an application from a server to a client station in an interactive television network. The method begins with the step of storing an application engine in the memory of the client station. The method further includes the step of transmitting a signal from the client station to the server. The signal represents a request for an application. The method also includes the steps of downloading an application segment from the server to the client station and storing the application segment in the memory of the client station. Finally, the method includes the step of executing the control logic of the application segment. An apparatus is also disclosed for implementing the method.

Method For Maintaining Channels And A Subscriber Station For Use In An Isdn System

View page
US Patent:
52766799, Jan 4, 1994
Filed:
Feb 12, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/834605
Inventors:
Thomas D. McKay - Bloomfield CO
James C. Shelby - Aurora CO
Martin D. Siebring - Parker CO
Assignee:
U.S. West Advanced Technologies, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
H04J 322
US Classification:
370 84
Abstract:
A method and at least one subscriber station utilizes a software package in combination with at least one terminal adapter which links ISDN circuit-switched channels, such as "B", "H0", "H10", "H11" and the like, into a single logical connection and synchronizes the linked channels in an ISDN system. The station allows a subscriber to dynamically select various bandwidths (i. e. different channels) for data transfer, such as text or graphics. The software package and, preferably, multiple terminal adapters, reside on a personal computer and also permits simultaneous messaging and voice functions between several such subscriber stations. Any number of logical channels can be managed. ISDN data is segmented based on the channel's respective data rates and thereafter simultaneously sent on the channels of the logical connection. ISDN data is consequently transferred at a rate greater than the rate available on any single ISDN channel.
