Side Control Faucet With Diverter Assembly

View page
US Patent:
20040011399, Jan 22, 2004
Filed:
Jul 17, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/196769
Inventors:
Donald Segien - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
International Classification:
E03C001/04
US Classification:
137/119010
Abstract:
A side control faucet is provided with a separate diverter valve which is connected to a single outlet from the valve body. The diverter valve is connected to a spout and to an auxiliary water dispenser, such as a side spray or water filtration dispenser. The separate diverter assembly allows the use of a single valve body to be used for both side spray and non-side spray faucet models. The side control faucet design reduces the number of parts required for a side control valve body for a side control faucet.

US Patent:
57410038, Apr 21, 1998
Filed:
May 13, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/855479
Inventors:
Donald James Segien - Chatsworth CA
Assignee:
Emhart Inc. - Newark DE
International Classification:
F16K 3502
US Classification:
251 95
Abstract:
A child-resistant handle to be mounted to a valve stem to which is affixed a cogwheel adapter by a shoulder screw. The shoulder screw rotatably mounts the freely rotatable handle to the valve stem. The handle has an inverted cup shape that extends over and covers the cogwheel adapter. A clutch member connected to the handle with a resilient member engaging the clutch to normally keep the clutch member out of engagement with the cogwheel adapter. The clutch member linearly shiftable to engage the cogwheel adapter whereby rotation of the handle will cause a like rotation of the valve stem.

Quick-Install Mounting Nut Assembly For A Single Control Kitchen Faucet

View page
US Patent:
62091530, Apr 3, 2001
Filed:
May 15, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/570903
Inventors:
Donald J. Segien - Chatsworth CA
Assignee:
Emhart Inc. - Newark DE
International Classification:
E03C 1042
US Classification:
4695
Abstract:
A quick-install mounting nut assembly for connecting a shank of a faucet to a deck with the shank having an enlarged upper portion disposed above the deck and a smaller diameter lower portion extending through an opening of the deck. A strap of the assembly is loosely disposed on the lower portion of the shank to be axially raised thereon. The strap has a pair of ears formed thereon with apertures therein. A pair of clips are connected to the ears of the strap and each has an aperture therein aligned with the apertures of the ears of the strap. Each of the clips has a clamping portion biased downwardly into engagement with the lower portion of the shank. A pair of fastener members are separately disposed through the apertures of the strap and the clips and are in threaded engagement with the clips. A pair of nuts are separately disposed upon the ears of the strap to be threadedly engaged by the fastener members. The strap is axially shifted upwardly upon the shank to cause the upper end of each of the fastener members to contact the underside of the deck whereby the fastener members are tightened upwardly upon the underside of the deck to force the clamping portions of the clip downwardly to bite and come into clamping engagement with the shank and to affix the shank in assembled position with the deck.

A putty plate 54 is formed in a configuration similar to a configuration of the opening of the base 34. The putty plate is formed with a ledge 57 on which is formed a pair of spaced "L" shaped channels 80 and a locking tab 76 with a latch bar 78. A throat plate 104 is formed with a body 106 with a ledge 116 extending therefrom. The ledge 116 is formed with a pair of spaced tabs 118 and 120 extending from one side of the ledge and an elongated hole 122 formed in the ledge between the tabs. A pair of bosses 124 and 126 with holes 128 are formed in spaced portions of the body 106. The tabs 118 and 120 of the throat plate 104 are located in the channels 80 of the putty plate 54 and the latch bar 78 is located in the hole 122 to retain the throat plate with the putty plate as an assembly.

US Patent:
56717768, Sep 30, 1997
Filed:
Sep 28, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/535691
Inventors:
Alfred Minassian - Simi Valley CA
Donald J. Segien - Chatsworth CA
Paul F. Wilson - Palmdale CA
Assignee:
Emhart Inc. - Newark DE
International Classification:
F16K 2700
US Classification:
137606
Abstract:
An end body 34 is formed with a chamber 45 having a bevelled surface 62 and a cylindrical wall 60 in a portion thereof. A sleeve 46 is formed with an outward flange 48 at one end thereof and an annular bead 50 near another end 54 thereof. The sleeve 46 is formed with a press fit section 56 between the end 54 and the bead 50 thereof. The sleeve 46 is inserted axially into the chamber 45 of the end body 34 and the section 56 thereof is press fit into the cylindrical wall 60 of the end body with the bead 50 locating on the bevelled surface 62 of the end body. A valve 44 is threadedly attached to an end 58 of the end body 34 whereby a seal 64 of the valve engages the flange 48 of the sleeve 46. Water enters the end body 34 at the bottom thereof and flows into an axial passage 49 of the sleeve 46. If valve 44 is closed, the water will not flow any further.
