Interconnection Of Circuit Substrates On Different Planes In Electronic Module

View page
US Patent:
6490168, Dec 3, 2002
Filed:
Sep 27, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/406467
Inventors:
William Rochowicz - Park Ridge IL
Declan Killarney - Wadsworth IL
Tom Gall - Northbrook IL
Chris Van Houten - Chicago IL
Don Zito - Fox River Grove IL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
H05K 111
US Classification:
361784, 361803, 361790, 361735, 361376, 361742, 361740, 361758, 361785, 361799, 174138 G
Abstract:
An electronic module ( ) includes a first circuit substrate ( ) and a second circuit substrate ( ). The first circuit substrate ( ) has a post surface ( ) and a post ( ) protruding from the post surface ( ). The second circuit substrate ( ) has an upper surface ( ) opposed to a lower surface ( ). The second circuit substrate ( ) forms an opening ( ). The first circuit substrate ( ) may be manufactured using a Molded Interconnect Device substrate. The second circuit substrate ( ) may be manufactured using a High Density Interconnect substrate. The second circuit substrate ( ) is placed on top of the first circuit substrate ( ) so that the post ( ) of the first circuit substrate ( ) is mated with the opening ( ) of the second circuit substrate ( ). During a solder screening process a solder paste is applied to the opening ( ) of the second circuit substrate ( ), and during a solder reflow operation the solder paste melts and a connection is formed between the first circuit substrate ( ) and the second circuit substrate ( ).

Bi-Level Wiring Harness Connector

View page
US Patent:
51866609, Feb 16, 1993
Filed:
Nov 9, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/433815
Inventors:
Thaddeus S. Wielgos - Des Plaines IL
Declan E. Killarney - Naperville IL
Katalin A. Schmidt - Des Plaines IL
Assignee:
Eaton Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
H01R 2100
US Classification:
439685
Abstract:
A bi-level electrical cable or harness connector for right angle connection through a bulkhead. The individual conductors are disposed in superposed layers or levels in a connector body and terminate at staggered locations along the connector. Access holes are provided for pin insertion at right angles to the conductors. One layer is accessed through holes provided in a well and the other layer accessed through holes in the connector surface.

Rocker Switch

View page
US Patent:
53809726, Jan 10, 1995
Filed:
Nov 19, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/154412
Inventors:
Donald A. Lunak - Hanover Park IL
Declan E. Killarney - Chicago IL
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
H01H 1502
US Classification:
200562
Abstract:
A rocker switch includes at least one switch device (105) actuable by a first side (110) of a first end (106) of a spring (107). The spring (107) has a second end (108) opposing the first end (106). First (103) and opposing second (103') support members are positioned on a second side (112) at the ends (106, 108) of the spring (107). A rocker mechanism (101), which has a top portion (121), is pivotable about an axis (109). The rocker mechanism (101) is also coupled to the spring (107) proximate a center position (111). The rocker mechanism (101) is positioned in a nominal position causing contact between the second side (112) of the first end (106) of the spring (107) and the first (103) support member, and causing another contact between the second side (112) of the second end (108) of the spring (107) and the second (103') support member. This positioning centers the rocker mechanism (101). Responsive to a pivoting of the top portion (121) of the rocker mechanism (101) towards the first end (106) of the spring (107), the second side (112) of the first end (106) of the spring (107) and the first (103) support will be separated and the first end (106) of the first side (110) of the spring (107) will contact and thereby actuating the switch means (105).
