Torso Arch Support For Body Board Users

View page
US Patent:
20060073943, Apr 6, 2006
Filed:
Nov 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/001963
Inventors:
David Perka - San Pedro CA, US
International Classification:
A63B 31/00
US Classification:
482055000
Abstract:
A garment worn by the user encircles his torso and includes a combined abdomen and chest cushion arrangement which supports the torso during a riding or paddling procedure. The pad includes layers of resilient cushion material as part of the garment. The cushion material is arranged in a series of different thickness pads or layers so as to compensate for the wedge-like angle between the surface of the board and the user's chest. In one form, the pads or bladders are arranged in three rows and two columns and are of a different thickness, commencing with the lower part of the user's rib cage and extending to the waist. The length of each of the pads or bladders is of a different dimension so as to accommodate for the decrease in space between the rib cage and the waist with respect to the surface of the board.

Filed:
May 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/432454
Inventors:
David J. Perka - San Pedro CA, US
International Classification:
A63B 31/00
US Classification:
482 55, 2 215, 2 216, 441102, 441103, D2731, D2732
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a wetsuit that may be worn by a user for providing torso support when user is lying prone on a board while engaging in aquatic sports. The wetsuit includes a torso wedge, which is generally aligned proximal the width of a costal arch of the user lower rib cage, critical in supporting the torso of the user. In general, the torso wedge is configured to provide a wedge-like angle between the board and the user's chest when the user is in a prone position on the board, thereby elevating the torso of the user.
