Filed:
Jun 30, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/173774
Inventors:
Dale Ellen Gaucas - Rochester NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
G06F 7/04
G06F 15/16
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
726 7, 713155, 713184
Abstract:
One embodiment is directed to apparatus. In the apparatus, a trusted intermediary computer screen user interface is provided. An identification information input receives, via the computer screen user interface, information identifying an authorized information seeker. The information seeker seeks access to a remote database via an internet protocol connection. An authorization confirmation display displays, via the computer screen user interface, that the authorized information seeker is confirmed as authorized to access the remote database. An access code request input requests, via the computer screen user interface, an access code for use by the authorized information seeker to access the remote database via the internet protocol connection. An access code output outputs the access code for use by the authorized information seeker.

US Patent:
7756935, Jul 13, 2010
Filed:
Jan 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/668883
Inventors:
Dale Ellen Gaucas - Rochester NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
709206, 709207, 709204, 713176, 713171, 713155, 713170, 726 22
Abstract:
A method is disclosed which monitors a plurality of electronic messages. Two or more electronic messages from the plurality of messages may be identified. Each identified message may contain an attachment. The attachments of the identified messages may be compared to determine a similarity score. The similarity score may be examined to determine if it exceeds a similarity threshold value. If the similarity score exceeds the similarity threshold value, a user may be notified that collaboration may be occurring. The user may also be provided automated support for porting the attachments to a document management system.

System And Method For Providing S/Mime-Based Document Distribution Via Electronic Mail Mechanisms

View page
US Patent:
7769724, Aug 3, 2010
Filed:
Mar 30, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/094067
Inventors:
Dale Ellen Gaucas - Rochester NY, US
Tao Liang - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06F 7/00
G06F 17/00
US Classification:
707687, 707999001
Abstract:
A content or document management system includes a content or document repository; a dedicated e-mail account; and a mail agent associated with the dedicated e-mail account. The mail agent processes a received e-mail message to determine a sender's identity; authenticates the identity of the sender and an authorization of the sender with respect to the content or document repository; parses, when a sender is authenticated and authorized, document request information from the e-mail message; and either stores a document to or retrieves a document from the content or document repository. The mail agent may authenticate the identity of the sender using a digital signature, or may authenticate the identity of the sender using an e-mail address in a FROM header field of the received e-mail message header. The mail agent may decrypt encrypted messages from the sender, and may sign and encrypt responses to the sender.

Document Access Management System

US Patent:
7958562, Jun 7, 2011
Filed:
Apr 27, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/412383
Inventors:
Dale E. Gaucas - Rochester NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
G06F 21/00
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
726 28, 726 5, 713182, 709226, 715751
Abstract:
In accordance with one embodiment, apparatus are provided including a document access arbiter, a guest access control mechanism, and a guest setup interface. The document access arbiter securely controls user access to a secured document repository. The guest access control mechanism provides, to guest users, selective access to respective select set of documents in the secure document repository. The guest users include users that do not have account holder access to the document repository. The guest setup interface presents, via a computer screen, guest parameter graphical tools to account holder users having account holder access to the repository.

Method And System For Adding Processes To Print Production Workflows Utilizing Asset Metadata And Automated Reasoning

View page
US Patent:
7979376, Jul 12, 2011
Filed:
Nov 27, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/986904
Inventors:
Michael David Shepherd - Ontario NY, US
Dale Ellen Gaucas - Penfield NY, US
Kirk J. Ocke - Ontario NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06F 17/00
G06N 5/02
US Classification:
706 47
Abstract:
A method and system for adding processes to print production workflows utilizing asset metadata and automated reasoning system is disclosed. The asset metadata can be extracted from the resources associated with a print product description such as PDF files and image and artwork files. The asset metadata can be processed through an automated reasoning system in order to infer additional metadata. The inferred metadata can be utilized to add and parameterize a process node in order to build a more effective and useful process network. The reasoning system can be a rule based reasoning system and/or ontology based reasoning system.

Semantically Validating Print Product Definitions

View page
US Patent:
8051029, Nov 1, 2011
Filed:
Feb 21, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/034762
Inventors:
Michael D. Shepherd - Ontario NY, US
Kirk J. Ocke - Ontario NY, US
Dale E. Gaucas - Penfield NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06N 5/02
G06F 17/00
US Classification:
706 50, 700 94, 360 75
Abstract:
A method provides a knowledgebase having a set of existing print product classes into which print product descriptions are classified. The method receives the new print product class from a user and maps the representation of new print product class conditions to be semantically consistent with the representation of existing class conditions. The method evaluates the new print product class to produce user feedback. The user feedback is output to the user. The new print product class is added to the knowledgebase only if the new print product class is valid and free of errors and semantically consistent with the definitions of already existing print product classes.

Method And System For Automatically Adding New Class Definitions To A Classification System

View page
US Patent:
8095481, Jan 10, 2012
Filed:
Sep 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/901895
Inventors:
Kirk J. Ocke - Ontario NY, US
Michael David Shepherd - Ontario NY, US
Dale Ellen Gaucas - Penfield NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06F 15/18
G06F 17/00
US Classification:
706 12, 706 47, 706 45
Abstract:
A method and system for automatically classifying a product description into a product type based on a classification system is disclosed. Real product descriptions representing a given product type can be compared with a pre-defined set of characteristics that are relevant to the classification system. The relevant information regarding the classification system is extracted from each of the real product descriptions. The extracted information can then be coalesced and transformed into a new set of classification rules for a new product type. The new classification rules can be used to automatically classify the product descriptions that represent the new product type. The classification system can be a rule based classification system and/or semantic web classification system.
