US Patent:
59064757, May 25, 1999
Filed:
Nov 12, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/969068
Inventors:
Marcus L. Melane - Irving TX
Curtis L. Hargroves - Double Oak TX
David S. Tunnell - Garland TX
Andrew G. Low - McKinney TX
Assignee:
Alcatel USA Sourcing, L.P. - Plano TX
International Classification:
F01D 2524
B25G 318
F16D 100
US Classification:
4152141
Abstract:
A housing (10) for a cooling fan (56) includes a first side wall (12) and a second side wall (14) separated by a front wall (16). A first wall portion (22) extends from the first side wall (22) toward the second side wall (14) and opposite from the front wall (16). A second wall portion (26) extends from the second side wall (14) toward the first side wall (12) and opposite from the front wall (16). A first flexible member (30) on the first wall portion (22) extends along the first side wall (12) and is arched toward the front wall (16). A second flexible member (32) on the second wall portion (26) extends along the second side wall (14) and is arched toward the front wall (16). A cooling fan (56) is inserted into the housing (10), compressing the first flexible member (30) and the second flexible member (32) that force the cooling fan (56) against the front wall (16). The front wall (16) may include tabs (42, 46, 48, 50) to enhance the ability to secure the cooling fan (56) within the housing (10).

US Patent:
61294349, Oct 10, 2000
Filed:
Dec 11, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/209683
Inventors:
Marcus L. Melane - Irving TX
Michael J. Pisterzi - Plano TX
Edward G. Mills - Prosper TX
Curtis L. Hargroves - Double Oak TX
Assignee:
Alcatel USA Sourcing, L.P. - Plano TX
International Classification:
A47B 8100
US Classification:
3123511
Abstract:
A support structure for an electronic enclosure includes a base having a top wall, a bottom wall which is spaced apart from the top wall, a pair of spaced apart end walls disposed between the top and bottom walls, and a pair of spaced apart side walls disposed between the top and bottom walls. The walls are integrally attached and are disposed to form a hollow chamber. The top wall includes an aperture communicating with the chamber. Ballast is disposed within the chamber and is adapted to be inserted into the chamber through the top wall aperture. The base may be formed of rotationally molded plastic material.

Modular Electronic Enclosure Having Rotational Molded Plastic Interlocking Components

View page
US Patent:
60394145, Mar 21, 2000
Filed:
Dec 11, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/209693
Inventors:
Marcus L. Melane - Irving TX
Michael J. Pisterzi - Plano TX
Edward G. Mills - Prosper TX
Curtis L. Hargroves - Double Oak TX
Assignee:
Alcatel USA Sourcing, L.P. - Plano TX
International Classification:
A47B 4500
US Classification:
312205
Abstract:
A modular enclosure includes multiple interlocking molded plastic components and panels to form an exterior structure for the enclosure. The exterior structure provides a protective and aesthetic housing which encloses and covers an interior enclosure housing electronic and mechanical equipment. The exterior interlocking components may be fabricated of plastic utilizing rotationally molding techniques to provide a hollow wall design resulting in structural rigidity and strength to the various external parts and components of the enclosure. The modularity of the present enclosure allows for easy replacement of exterior components without affecting operation of the equipment housed inside the enclosure.
