Abstract:
A combustion system includes a fuel and oxidant source, a first distal flame holder body, a second distal flame holder body, and a thermal load. The fuel and oxidant source outputs fuel and oxidant. The first and second distal flame holder bodies simultaneously or alternately hold combustion reaction portions of the fuel and oxidant and/or of combustion products. The thermal load receives thermal energy from the first and second combustion reaction portions.

Abstract:
A insert for a staged fuel burner and processes for using a burner with the insert. The insert has a burner tip that injects a mixture of primary fuel and combustion air into a combustion zone to produce a flame. A staged fuel is also injected into the combustion zone. Prior to being injected into the combustion zone, from the burner tip, the staged fuel, is injected into the burner tip and draws combustion air from the mixer of the burner insert into the burner tip with the staged fuel.

Abstract:
A chemical plant may include one or more fired heaters for heating of process streams. A fired heater may include a direct-fired heat exchanger that uses the hot gases of combustion to raise the temperature of a process fluid feed flowing through tubes positioned within the heater. Fired heaters may deliver feed at a predetermined temperature to the next stage of the reaction process or perform reactions such as thermal cracking. Systems and methods are disclosed to optimize the performance of fired heaters or reduce energy consumption of fired heaters.
