Abstract:
Applicants have created a method and system of deep sea mining comprising mining SMS deposits from the sea floor with a subsea miner, pumping the solids from the subsea miner through a jumper and pumping the solids from the jumper up a riser to a surface vessel. Further, applicants have created a method of deploying a deep sea mining system, comprising stacking a riser hangoff structure on top of a subsea pump module forming an assembly; picking up the assembly by a hanging mechanism, hanging the assembly on a moon pool, attaching a first riser joint; disconnecting the riser hangoff structure from the assembly; and attaching at least one second riser joint to form the riser.

Abstract:
A tensioning device is provided for applying tension to a riser from a surface deck of an offshore oil or gas well. The tensioning device is used with a riser of the type having threads formed on an exterior surface thereof. A tension ring of the tensioning device is formed from first and second ring halves that are clamped together about the riser. The first and second halves have inner threads for engaging the threads of the riser. A clearance exists between the first and second ring halves when the ring halves are clamped together about the riser to allow the first and second ring halves to be tightened against the exterior surface of the riser so that the tension ring is securely fastened to the riser. Fastening means are used for clamping the first and second ring halves together about the riser. Tensioning members that couple at one end to the tension ring and at the other end to the surface deck are used to apply tension to the riser from the surface deck.

Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a system and a method for efficiently converting the structure of a drilling floating platform into a structure for a production floating platform. A riser support module can be coupled to a topsides of the drilling floating platform and suspended below a moonpool or other opening through the topsides to support risers and their respective riser pull tubes, if any. The riser support module can be prebuilt and installed as a unit for example at a quayside.
