US Patent:
8372026, Feb 12, 2013
Filed:
Feb 3, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/366073
Inventors:
Andrew T. Schieber - Plymouth MN, US
Charles L. Euteneuer - Plymouth MN, US
Assignee:
Ivantis, Inc. - Irvine CA
International Classification:
A61M 5/00
US Classification:
604 8, 623 41
Abstract:
An ocular implant having a first spine; a second spine; a first strut extending in an axial direction Z between the first spine and the second spine; a second strut extending in an axial direction Z between the first spine and the second spine; wherein an angular dimension θ of a first edge of each strut undulates as the strut extends in the axial direction Z between the first spine and the second spine; and wherein a radius r of an outer surface of each strut remains substantially constant as the strut extends the axial direction Z between the first spine and the second spine.

Ocular Implants With Asymmetric Flexibility

US Patent:
20090082860, Mar 26, 2009
Filed:
Sep 23, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/236225
Inventors:
Andrew T. Schieber - Plymouth MN, US
Charles L. Euteneuer - Plymouth MN, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/14
A61K 9/00
A61P 27/02
US Classification:
623 41, 424423
Abstract:
An ocular implant having a body extending along a generally curved longitudinal axis, the curved longitudinal axis defining a first plane, the body having a diameter of between 0.005 inches and 0.04 inches and being adapted to be disposed within a canal of Schlemm in a human subject's eye; wherein the body has a first flexibility when bent along the first plane and a second flexibility different from the first flexibility when bent along a second plane that intersects the first plane and is not coincident with the first plane. Another aspect of the invention provides a method of treating a human eye, including the steps of: inserting an implant into Schlemm's canal of a human eye, the implant having a first flexibility when bent along a first plane and a second flexibility different from the first flexibility when bent along a second plane that intersects the first plane and is not coincident with the first plane; and supporting tissue forming Schlemm's canal with the implant.

Abstract:
Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include an elongate shaft including a first tubular member and a second tubular member. A balloon may be coupled to the shaft. A first member may be coupled to the first tubular member and positioned within the balloon. A second member may be coupled to the first tubular member and positioned within the balloon. A medical implant may be coupled to the shaft and positioned adjacent to the balloon.

Compression Balloon Protector For A Balloon Dilatation Catheter And Method Of Use Thereof

US Patent:
50530070, Oct 1, 1991
Filed:
Dec 14, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/450664
Inventors:
Charles L. Euteneuer - Maple Grove MN
Assignee:
SciMed Life Systems, Inc. - Maple Grove MN
International Classification:
A61M 2900
A61M 2902
US Classification:
604 96
Abstract:
An apparatus for protection of a distal balloon on a dilatation catheter includes an inner compressible sleeve which fits longitudinally over the balloon, an outer compressible sleeve which fits over the inner sleeve, and a housing arrangement for deforming the sleeves radially inwardly about the balloon. The housing arrangement includes first and second threadably mated members which have longitudinally aligned throughbores for receiving the catheter and sleeves, but which act, when threaded together, to compress the outer sleeve onto the inner sleeve and the balloon.

Abstract:
A system/assembly for delivery and deployment of an inflation expandable stent within a vessel, comprising a catheter having proximal and distal ends; a stent, inflation expandable from a delivery diameter to a deployment diameter, such that the delivery diameter is reduced from the deployment diameter for conforming the stent to the catheter, such that the stent, in its delivery diameter, is coaxially mounted on the catheter near the catheter distal end; an expandable inflation means coaxially mounted on the catheter axially within the stent, for expansion of the stent from the delivery diameter to the deployment diameter upon application of fluid deployment pressure to the inflation means; and a securement component coaxially mounted on the catheter, axially within the expandable inflation means, the securement component designed and adapted to provide a securement pressure to the stent in the delivery diameter to maintain the stent in position on the catheter during delivery to the deployment site.
