Abstract:
The invention relates to a fibrin-based scaffold suitable for supporting a population of cells comprising mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and/or umbilical tissue derived cells (UTC) at the site of administration for a prolonged period of time. The scaffold is capable of supporting at least 1×10cells/ml scaffold. The invention also relates to the preparation of the scaffold and to its use. Preparation of the scaffold is carried out with a fibrinogen component comprising fibrinogen having a final concentration of higher than 17.5 mg/ml scaffold. The scaffold and the embedded MSC and/or UTC can be used for increasing vascularization and/or wound healing at the site of administration.
