US Classification:
524291, 106 33, 10628726, 523122, 524292, 524765
Abstract:
The addition of at least about 30 weight percent of diethylene glycol (DEG) monobenzoate or dipropylene glycol (DPG) monobenzoate to diethylene glycol (DEG) dibenzoate, which is a solid at 28Â C. , results in a mixture that is unexpectedly a liquid at this temperature. The resultant mixtures are effective plasticizers for aqueous polymer compositions, including adhesives and caulks.

Velsicol Chemical Corporation - Rosemont IL
International Classification:
C08K 512
US Classification:
524287, 524140, 524270, 524272, 524284, 524314, 524292, 524297, 524376, 524487
Abstract:
Compositions comprising at least one acrylic, vinyl acetate or epoxide polymer or copolymer as a film-forming ingredient and an ester of benzoic acid wherein the alcohol portion of the ester is alkyl and contains eight carbon atoms exhibit unexpected improvements in film-forming and applied film properties. In preferred compositions this alcohol portion is 2-ethylhexyl. Additionally, the preferred benzoic acid ester frequently interacts synergistically with benzoic acid esters derived from oligomeric ethylene glycols.

Polyester Plasticizers For Halogen-Containing Polymers

View page
US Patent:
6706806, Mar 16, 2004
Filed:
Dec 20, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/742260
Inventors:
Jiamin Lang - Arlington Heights IL
Franz Josef Luxem - Palatine IL
Bruce E. Streeter - Crystal Lake IL
Bruce E. Stanhope - Grayslake IL
Eric R. Zimmermann - Algonquin IL
Assignee:
Velsicol Chemical Corporation - Rosemont IL
International Classification:
C08J 300
US Classification:
524569, 524568, 524 81, 524284, 524315
Abstract:
A portion of the repeating units in polyesters useful as plasticizers for rigid organic polymers are derived from diethylene glycol and at least one dicarboxylic acid. The percentage of these repeating units that can be present in polyesters that are compatible with the organic polymer into which they are incorporated is inversely proportional to the weight average molecular weight of the polyester.

Plastisol Compositions Comprising Vinyl Chloride Polymers And Mixtures Of Aromatic And Aliphatic Esters Of Diols As Plasticizers

View page
US Patent:
6933337, Aug 23, 2005
Filed:
Mar 20, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/393214
Inventors:
Jiamin Lang - Arlington Heights IL, US
Bruce Edward Stanhope - Grayslake IL, US
Thomas Joseph Bohnert - Rochester NH, US
William David Arendt - Libertyville IL, US
International Classification:
C08K005/09
US Classification:
524290, 524291, 524292, 524306, 524308, 524310
Abstract:
Mixtures of esters produced by reacting a mixture of aromatic and aliphatic monocarboxylic acids with a diol containing from 2 to 12 carbon atoms are effective plasticizers for plastisols containing dispersion grade polymers of vinyl chloride. The freezing point of the present ester mixtures and their efficacy as plasticizers can be varied by adjusting the type and relative concentration of the aliphatic acid used to prepare the plasticizer. The ester mixtures can also be used as plasticizers for other organic polymers.

Filed:
Jun 25, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/178712
Inventors:
Bruce Edward Stanhope - Grayslake IL, US
William David Arendt - Libertyville IL, US
