US Patent:
20020019983, Feb 14, 2002
Filed:
Apr 27, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/844413
Inventors:
Brett Emsley - Indianapolis IN, US
James Harris - Indianapolis IN, US
Dennis Orndorff - Greenfield IN, US
Gregg Rodgers - Noblesville IN, US
Gary Sinde - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
H04N007/173
H04N017/02
US Classification:
725/107000, 348/180000
Abstract:
An instrument for testing a CATV network includes an input port for receiving first information from the network, a computer coupled to the input port for processing the first information received from the network, a user interface permitting a user to create second information for communication over the network, and a serial port for coupling the second information to the network. The instrument also includes a signature pad permitting a user to enter handwritten communication for transmission over the network, and a port for coupling handwritten communication-related signals to the network. The instrument also includes an ethernet interface for coupling the second information to the network.

Tagging Digital Television Signals

US Patent:
20120086865, Apr 12, 2012
Filed:
Jun 4, 2010
Appl. No.:
13/376903
Inventors:
Terry W. Bush - Greenwood IN, US
Gregg Stephen Rodgers - Noblesville IN, US
Brett W. Emsley - Zionsville IN, US
Assignee:
TRILITHIC, INC. - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
H04N 5/40
US Classification:
348724, 725107, 348E05094
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting leakage of a digital CATV channel signal from a CATV system. The digital CATV channel signal is amplitude modulated with a tag signal having a frequency in the range of about 3 Hz to about 35 Hz, and coupled to the CATV system. At a point of leakage from the CATV system, the amplitude modulated digital CATV channel signal can be detected using a leakage detector capable of recovering the tag signal.

Determining Phase Linearity In Catv Distribution Systems

US Patent:
7213257, May 1, 2007
Filed:
Sep 15, 2000
Appl. No.:
10/088127
Inventors:
Brett W. Emsley - Indianapolis IN, US
Gregg Stephen Rodgers - Noblesville IN, US
Assignee:
Trilithic, Inc. - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
H04N 7/173
US Classification:
725107, 348180, 348192, 455 6716, 725118
Abstract:
An apparatus for testing the phase linearity of a network comprises a first local oscillator, a first mixer, and a first filter, a second local oscillator, and a second mixer for mixing the first IF to the desired output frequency. The output of the second mixer is coupled to a second filter which passes the desired frequency band, but rejects the high frequency mixing harmonics produced in the second mixer. The output of the second filter is coupled to a variable gain amplifier capable of amplifying the frequency band of interest to the desired level and a third filter which further rejects unwanted high frequencies in the output.

Leakage Detection In Docsis 3.1 Environment

US Patent:
20180019786, Jan 18, 2018
Filed:
Feb 4, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/548571
Inventors:
- Indianapolis IN, US
Brett W. EMSLEY - Zionsville IN, US
Mathew A. KING - Westfield IN, US
Assignee:
Trilithic, Inc. - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
H04B 3/46
H04J 11/00
Abstract:
Various methods of detecting leakage of a signal from a Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 3.1 channel are disclosed, including using a DOCSIS 3.1-defined “exclusion band” to insert existing tagger-based test carriers, using a power signature algorithm to detect the presence of DOCSIS 3.1-defined pilot carriers, and using a time-based correlation technique to detect the presence of DOCSIS 3.1-defined cyclic prefixes.
