Abstract:
Methods for inhibiting, preventing, or treating cancer cell growth are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises the step of administering to a patient an effective amount of a metabolic precursor of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, or an analog or a derivative thereof, to increase levels of the metabolic precursor available to a target cell. In a preferred embodiment, the metabolic precursor is 25-hydroxyvitamin D.
