Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing blades in the event of a power supply unit failure are disclosed. A method may include determining whether a reduced power capacity of the non-failed power supply units is sufficient to provide an aggregate minimum power requirement of the resources in response to a failure of a particular power supply unit. The method may also include powering down a low-priority resource and not powering down a second resource having a higher priority than the low-priority resource if the reduced power capacity of the non-failed power supply units is not sufficient to provide the aggregate minimum power requirement of the resources.

System And Method For Dynamic Modular Information Handling System Power Distribution

View page
US Patent:
20100211804, Aug 19, 2010
Filed:
Feb 19, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/388606
Inventors:
Alan Brumley - Cedar Park TX, US
Jaydev Reddy - Austin TX, US
Ashish Munjal - Round Rock TX, US
Arun Muthaiyan - Round Rock TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 1/00
US Classification:
713300
Abstract:
Infrastructure power resources of a chassis information handling system are made available to run chassis information handling system modules when infrastructure devices are not using the power resources. For example, cooling fans that cool information handling system modules supported by an information handling system chassis run at variable speeds having variable power consumption. A power reserve maintained to run the cooling fans at full speed if needed is made available to information handling system modules when under power management by a chassis manager.

US Patent:
20210263868, Aug 26, 2021
Filed:
Feb 24, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/798744
Inventors:
- Round Rock TX, US
Arun Muthaiyan - Round Rock TX, US
Jordan Chin - Austin TX, US

International Classification:
G06F 13/24
G06F 11/07
Abstract:
An information handling system includes a device, a processor, and a runtime agent. the device provides a System Management Interrupt (SMI) in response to an error on the device. The processor receives the SMI, enters a System Management Mode (SMM), and executes first interrupt handler code in SMM to provide interrupt information associated with the SMI when the SMI is associated with a non-critical error on the device, and exit SMM to a runtime mode. The runtime agent receives the interrupt information during the runtime mode to execute second interrupt handler code to service the non-critical error on the device.
