Filed:
Aug 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/920980
Inventors:
Arun C. Alex - Schaumburg IL, US
Chandra Warrier - Schaumburg IL, US
Assignee:
UTStarcom, Inc. - Alameda CA
International Classification:
H04L 12/28
US Classification:
370230, 370331, 370338, 370353, 370389, 370401
Abstract:
A connection with a mobile node is established. A registration request is received and a tunnel identifier determined. The tunnel identifier is independent of (i) a home address of the mobile node and (ii) an address of a home agent for the mobile node. The registration request is transmitted to the home agent, and the registration request includes the tunnel identifier. A response to the request is received and, responsively, a connection is activated. Data packets are received from the home agent in response to transmitting the registration request. The data packets include the tunnel identifier. The connection is identified using the tunnel identifier and the packets are routed along the connection.

System And Method For Dynamic Information Retrieval Using A State Machine

US Patent:
7415042, Aug 19, 2008
Filed:
Feb 19, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/370964
Inventors:
Arun C. Alex - Mount Prospect IL, US
Assignee:
UTStarcom, Inc. - Alameda CA
International Classification:
H04J 3/00
G06F 15/00
G06F 16/50
US Classification:
370476, 712200, 716 3
Abstract:
A system and method for retrieving information from a frame. A plurality of entries is initialized in a translation table. The translation table has a plurality of rows. Each of the plurality of rows represents a state. The rows have a plurality of entries. Each of the entries corresponds to a character. An indication of a current state is maintained and a frame is received. The frame includes a plurality of characters. A selected character from the frame is chosen. A translation row is selected in the translation table corresponding to the indication of the current state. An entry is located in the selected translation row in the translation table. The entry corresponds to the selected character. The character is translated. The translated character is stored in an output buffer.

Method And Apparatus To Facilitate Broadcast Packet Handling

View page
US Patent:
7660582, Feb 9, 2010
Filed:
Jan 13, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/034614
Inventors:
Arun C. Alex - Bartlett IL, US
Kunnath Sudhir - Bolingbrook IL, US
Assignee:
UTStarcom, Inc. - Alameda CA
International Classification:
H04W 4/00
H04H 20/71
US Classification:
455433, 370312
Abstract:
A first network element determines () that a given mobile node using mobile Internet Protocol should receive subsequent broadcast packets as may be sourced by a corresponding Home Agent. This first network element can then determine () whether to support such subsequent broadcast packets using a first broadcast packet handling approach or a second broadcast packet handling approach.

Processing Platform Selection Method For Data Packet Filter Installation

View page
US Patent:
7924712, Apr 12, 2011
Filed:
Dec 21, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/018081
Inventors:
Arun C. Alex - Bartlett IL, US
Kunnath Sudhir - Bolingbrook IL, US
Abhishek Sharma - Streamwood IL, US
Assignee:
UTStarcom, Inc. - Alameda CA
International Classification:
H04L 12/26
US Classification:
370230, 370235, 370401, 709224
Abstract:
In a data packet system () comprised of a plurality of processing platforms that are each at least potentially in-line with respect to a flow of data packets, upon receiving () an installation of a data packet filter, automatically selecting () where, from amongst that plurality of process platforms, to effect the data packet filter. This can comprise, if desired, parsing of the filter to ascertain its characterizing requirements and accessing information regarding the processing platforms to determine which platforms are capable of effecting those requirements. Numerous other factors can also be taken into account to aid in assuring an appropriate selection.

Reducing Latency And Packet Loss Related To Handoffs Of Mobile Video Traffic

View page
US Patent:
8457071, Jun 4, 2013
Filed:
Aug 31, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/872463
Inventors:
Arun Alex - Nashua NH, US
Rajesh Velandy - Nashua NH, US
Rajesh Ramankutty - Nashua NH, US
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H04W 4/00
US Classification:
370331, 455436
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a system including a memory capable of storing data and a processor is disclosed. The processor is configured for using the data such that the system can request from a source gateway subscription information related to a plurality of multicast video streams subscribed by the source gateway upon receiving a handoff request from a mobile device transitioning from a source region to a target region, wherein the handoff request contains information related to the source gateway. The processor is further configured for using the data such that the system can subscribe to at least a subset of the plurality of multicast video streams before the requested handoff is complete.

Session Redundancy Among A Server Cluster
