Dual Airflow Environmental Module To Provide Balanced And Thermodynamically Adjusted Airflows For A Device

View page
US Patent:
6957026, Oct 18, 2005
Filed:
Feb 18, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/779711
Inventors:
Ali R. Dergham - Rochester NY, US
Armando J. Rivera - Webster NY, US
Francisco Zirilli - Penfield NY, US
Mark A. Adiletta - Fairport NY, US
Jonathan B. Hunter - Macedon NY, US
Andrew C. LaRocca - Webster NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G03G021/20
US Classification:
399 92, 399 91, 399 94, 399 97
Abstract:
An electrophotographic marking device includes a xerographic marking module and an environmental control module which controls temperature and relative humidity inside the marking module. The environmental module has a main plenum chamber and a divided or split plenum chamber to create and supply two air streams with different temperatures and/or different humidities and/or different airflow volumes and/or airflow rates to a marking engine. A primary air stream plenum chamber is closed loop controlled by input from one or more temperature and/or humidity sensors in the xerographic module. A secondary air stream plenum chamber is open loop controlled by means of one or more temperature and/or humidity sensors in one or mode developer housings. Heating of the secondary air stream is achieved by heat generated in the developer housing(s) and/or one or more heaters distinct from the developer unit elements. The system achieves balanced, thermodynamically adjusted, air flows.

Xerographic Machine Toner Contamination Control System

View page
US Patent:
8180245, May 15, 2012
Filed:
Feb 11, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/369419
Inventors:
Ali R Dergham - Fairport NY, US
Francesco Zirilli - Penfield NY, US
Glenn Bennett - Rochester NY, US
Jorge Rodriguez - Webster NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G03G 21/00
US Classification:
399 93, 399 99
Abstract:
This is a toner control system for use in a cleaning station of a xerographic marking apparatus. A sensor is located in the air conduits of the system to measure airflow throughout the system. The sensor is in contact with a controller that is configured to adjust the blower speed to normal conditions (i. e. sea level and clean filter conditions) as the flow rate is reduced due to normal apparatus use. The system has an air blower(s), a filter(s), air conduits, a sensor(s) and a controller(s) in communication with the sensor(s).

Waste Cyclone Dispense System With Controlled Rotating Cylinder Gate

View page
US Patent:
8195080, Jun 5, 2012
Filed:
Oct 2, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/572308
Inventors:
Ali R. Dergham - Fairport NY, US
Timothy M. Davis - Macedon NY, US
Jorge M. Rodriguez - Webster NY, US
Randall E. Kaufman - Rochester NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G03G 21/00
US Classification:
399360, 399 35
Abstract:
This is a waste cyclone toner dispense system with a controlled gate and a collection bag below the gate. The controlled gate prevents pressure from entering the bag thereby permitting the use of relatively inexpensive bags for collection of toner debris. The gate has rotating blades tightly pushed against a sealing wall, such as rubber or the like. The wall must prevent pressure from reaching the bag and remaining only above the bag. The rotating blades convey waste toner from an upper collection to the collection bag.

Waste Dry Ink System With Pressure Equalizing Hermetically Sealed Outer Box

View page
US Patent:
8204425, Jun 19, 2012
Filed:
Dec 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/640839
Inventors:
Jorge M. Rodriguez - Webster NY, US
Ali R. Dergham - Fairport NY, US
Scott M. Dailey - Webster NY, US
Mark A. Adiletta - Fairport NY, US
Assignee:
Xerox Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G03G 21/12
US Classification:
399360, 399109
Abstract:
This is a novel xerographic marking system having a novel toner waste dispensing assembly. The assembly comprises a hermetically sealed outer box that houses a disposable waste toner container. The container is a biodegradable carton or bag that can be removed from the outer box when filled with waste toner. A feature of this invention is that the dispensing assembly can easily be retrofitted into existing marking systems. Also because the containers are inexpensive and biodegradable, the expensive prior art non-degradable waste containers and their adverse effect on the landfills can be avoided.
