Systems And Methods For Placing A Coapting Member Between Valvular Leaflets

View page
US Patent:
20130325110, Dec 5, 2013
Filed:
May 16, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/895611
Inventors:
Erin Spinner - Newport Beach CA, US
Neil Zimmerman - Newport Beach CA, US
Alexander H. Siemons - Yorba Linda CA, US
Son V. Nguyen - Irvine CA, US
Assignee:
Edwards Lifesciences Corporation - Irvine CA
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
US Classification:
623 211
Abstract:
The present invention relates to devices and methods for improving the function of a defective heart valve, and particularly for reducing regurgitation through an atrioventricular heart valveā€”i.e., the mitral valve and the tricuspid valve. For a tricuspid repair, the device includes an anchor deployed in the tissue of the right ventricle, in an orifice opening to the right atrium, or anchored to the tricuspid valve. A flexible anchor rail connects to the anchor and a coaptation element on a catheter rides over the anchor rail. The catheter attaches to the proximal end of the coaptation element, and a locking mechanism fixes the position of the coaptation element relative to the anchor rail. Finally, there is a proximal anchoring feature to fix the proximal end of the coaptation catheter subcutaneously adjacent the subclavian vein. The coaptation element includes an inert covering and helps reduce regurgitation through contact with the valve leaflets.

Adaptive Tuning For Volume Clamp Blood Pressure Measurement

View page
US Patent:
20190261872, Aug 29, 2019
Filed:
Feb 4, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/266366
Inventors:
- Irvine CA, US
Alexander H. Siemons - Yorba Linda CA, US
International Classification:
A61B 5/0225
A61B 5/022
A61B 5/026
A61B 5/00
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system to provide adaptive tuning through a control system to a finger cuff connectable to a patient's finger to be used in measuring the patient's blood pressure in the patient's artery by a blood pressure measurement system utilizing a volume clamp method. When the finger cuff is placed around the patient's finger, the bladder and the LED-PD pair aid in measuring the patient's blood pressure by the blood pressure measurement system utilizing the volume clamp method, wherein the adaptive tuning system: applies a first pressure impulse and measures a pleth versus time response; from the pressure versus time response, determines pleth servo gains that compensate for delays in a pleth response of the finger; and uses the determined pleth servo gains in the control system in measuring the patient's blood pressure by the blood pressure measurement system utilizing the volume clamp method.

A61B 5/0225
A61B 5/022
A61B 5/021
A61B 5/0295
A61B 5/026
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system to monitor a finger cuff connectable to a patient's finger to be used in measuring the patient's blood pressure by a blood pressure measurement system utilizing the volume clamp method and to measure the plethysmogram of the finger cuff. The system comprises the finger cuff that includes an enclosing portion that encloses a patient's finger. The enclosing portion includes a bladder and a light emitting diode (LED) and photodiode (PD) pair. The system further comprises a processor to: command applying pneumatic pressure to the bladder of the finger cuff from a low pressure to a high pressure; measure the plethysmogram of the finger cuff as the pressure increases from the low pressure to the high pressure; and determine fitness of the finger cuff on the patient's finger based on the measured plethysmogram. When the finger cuff is placed around the patient's finger, the bladder and the LED-PD pair aid the processor in measuring the plethysmogram.
