System And Method For Modifying An Information Transfer Request

View page
US Patent:
7216180, May 8, 2007
Filed:
Jan 16, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/761399
Inventors:
Alessandro Muti - Redmond WA, US
Brian J. Moore - Redmond WA, US
Anthony Andreas Ciccone - Bellevue WA, US
Darshatkumar A. Shah - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709246, 709228, 709238
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and methodology for recognizing when an Information Transfer Request (ITR) should be modified, for creating such a modified request and for processing such a modified information transfer request to produce a desired response. Also disclosed is a client side component that can identify when an information transfer request in a particular format may not produce a desired response, a client side component that can reformat an information transfer request from one that may not produce a desired response to one that may produce a desired response and a server side component that can recognize reformatted information transfer requests and process those requests to produce the desired response.

System And Method For Transferring Data Over A Network

View page
US Patent:
7437428, Oct 14, 2008
Filed:
Feb 16, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/505735
Inventors:
Alessandro Muti - Redmond WA, US
Darshatkumar A. Shah - Bellevue WA, US
Brian Joseph Moore - Redmond WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709219, 709224, 709227
Abstract:
A method is provided for transferring a set of data over a network by monitoring the level of actual network bandwidth utilization. The method identifies a maximum monitored level of actual utilization and calculates a threshold level of utilization as a function of the maximum monitored level of utilization. The threshold level represents a level below which a set of data, such as a software update, may be transferred or downloaded over the network without interfering with other network activity at the network interface. If the actual level of utilization is less than the threshold level, at least a portion or segment of the data is received over the network. If the actual level of utilization remains below the threshold level for an extended period of time, data may be transferred over the network in progressively larger segments to take advantage of unused bandwidth.

System And Method For Transferring Data Over A Network

View page
US Patent:
20050086364, Apr 21, 2005
Filed:
Dec 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/005998
Inventors:
Alessandro Muti - Redmond WA, US
Darshatkumar Shah - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F015/16
US Classification:
709235000, 709219000, 709232000
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for transferring a set of data over a network by monitoring the level of actual network bandwidth utilization. The method identifies a maximum monitored level of actual utilization and calculates a threshold level of utilization as a function of the maximum monitored level of utilization. If the actual level of utilization is less than the threshold level, at least a portion or segment of the data is received over the network. Each time a portion of the data is received, the monitoring step is repeated and a counter is incremented. The size of the discrete portions of the data is a function of the value of the counter and is increased when the value of the counter is greater than a predetermined value.

System And Method For Scheduling Posts On A Web Site

View page
US Patent:
20130055128, Feb 28, 2013
Filed:
Aug 31, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/223055
Inventors:
Alessandro Muti - Mercer Island WA, US
Leigh Fatzinger - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715769
Abstract:
A method and system for composing and posting content at a site on a wide area network includes receiving content for a proposed post. The system displays the content as a graphic tile. The graphic tile includes: a block displaying textual content within a nascent post; a status block displaying a status of review where the nascent post must be reviewed for release by at least one reviewing authority; and a block indicating the presence and identity of a MIME-type attachment within the nascent post. The system also displays a calendar window including a plurality of time slots corresponding to each of a plurality of posting times of the nascent post on the site. Scheduling the post of the nascent post on the site at a time requested is effected by “dragging and dropping” the graphic tile onto a time slot.

Zone-Based Mobile Device Configuration For Hospitality Deployment

View page
US Patent:
20180101835, Apr 12, 2018
Filed:
Oct 5, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/725809
Inventors:
- Alpharetta GA, US
Alessandro Muti - Mercer Island WA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 20/32
G06Q 50/12
G06Q 30/06
Abstract:
A system and method for the zone-based configuration of a mobile device to be deployed in a hospitality facility. The system maintains a record of zones into which a hospitality facility has been divided, as well as corresponding zone parameters, as provided by a user of the system. A mobile device may be deployed to a zone within the hospitality facility to, for example, take orders from guests in that zone. Prior to deployment, a user of the mobile device selects the zone to which the mobile device is to be deployed, and the mobile device is configured according to the corresponding zone parameters. The services offered through the mobile device, as well as which hotel resources are used to fulfill ordered services and process service payments, are based on the configured zone parameters.

Rules-Based Folio Routing

View page
US Patent:
20170124610, May 4, 2017
Filed:
Oct 30, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/929036
Inventors:
- Alpharetta GA, US
Larry Steinberg - Sammamish WA, US
Alessandro Muti - Mercer Island WA, US
Rehan Jaddi - Sammamish WA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 30/04
G06Q 50/12
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
A system and method that routes charges accrued during a hotel stay to folios associated with the stay. The system receives one or more folio routing rules to be applied to a stay, each of which includes a destination folio associated with the stay and criteria for when the rule applies. As charges are accrued, each of the charges are processed by the system by evaluating the charge against the stay's associated folio routing rules. Based on the evaluation, each accrued charge is routed to a folio. Folios, including a listing of routed charges, may then be displayed to users of the system, such as hotel guests and hotel staff. Different folios may present different amounts of information to different types of users. Folios are settled by applying one or more specified payment instruments to the routed charges.
