Signage Using A Diffusion Chamber

View page
US Patent:
20080005944, Jan 10, 2008
Filed:
Jan 17, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/653982
Inventors:
Jack Rains - Oak Hill VA, US
Alan Geishecker - Woodbridge VA, US
International Classification:
G09F 13/16
US Classification:
040563000
Abstract:
A sign having selectable spectral characteristics of visible light produced by combining selected amounts of light energy of different wavelengths from different sources in a diffusion chamber. The signs exhibit diffuse reflectivity to provide light having uniform intensity and illumination.

Monitoring Connect Time And Time Of Operation Of A Solid State Lighting Device

View page
US Patent:
20080228508, Sep 18, 2008
Filed:
Mar 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/717074
Inventors:
Steve S. Lyons - Herndon VA, US
Michael E. Garbus - Reston VA, US
Matthew H. Aldrich - Arlington VA, US
Alan W. Geishecker - Woodbridge VA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 90/00
US Classification:
705 1, 257798
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed to monitor the time of operation of a solid state lighting system, e.g. for warranty purposes. Examples are disclosed that measure time of system connection to power and/or time of light output from the solid state emitter(s) of the system. A service under the warranty is provided if operation time does not exceed the warranty eligibility criteria, e.g. maximum limit(s). The service provided under the warranty may be pro-rated based on the time of operation.

Lighting Fixtures Using Solid State Device And Remote Phosphors To Produce White Light

View page
US Patent:
20110128718, Jun 2, 2011
Filed:
Jul 14, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/836022
Inventors:
David P. RAMER - Reston VA, US
Alan W. Geishecker - Woodbridge VA, US
International Classification:
F21V 9/16
US Classification:
362 84
Abstract:
The present subject matter utilizes solid state sources to pump remote phosphors positioned within lighting fixtures to facilitate visible light illumination application in a region or area to be inhabited by a person. One or more phosphors are remotely positioned in a chamber of a lightguide element, which in some examples, substantially fills an optical volume of the fixture. The chamber includes a solid liquid or gas material for bearing the one or more phosphors. Multiple phosphors, for example, may together produce light in the fixture output that is at least substantially white and has a color rendering index (CRI) of 75 or higher.

Signage Using A Diffusion Chamber

View page
US Patent:
20070171649, Jul 26, 2007
Filed:
Mar 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/717124
Inventors:
Jack Rains - Oak Hill VA, US
Alan Geishecker - Woodbridge VA, US
International Classification:
F21V 7/00
US Classification:
362303000, 362265000
Abstract:
A signage system to provide advertising and the like. In a first example, the sign includes a cavity in a housing with a diffusely reflective interior surface at the back of the housing and a sign panel at the front of the housing with an aperture for allowing emission of light from the cavity. In still another example, the sign is a channel letter with a clear or translucent sign panel and with light sources mounted on a shelf facing the back of the housing. The light sources preferably use LED's or other solid state devices. Where the light sources emit multiple wavelengths, control of the intensity of emission of the LED light sources determines a spectral characteristic of the light output through the aperture.
