System And Method For Single Stroke Character Recognition

View page
US Patent:
8331682, Dec 11, 2012
Filed:
Aug 27, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/199609
Inventors:
Adrian Kaehler - Boulder Creek CA, US
Assignee:
Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation - Falls Church VA
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382189
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for recognizing a single stroke gesture. An input trajectory representing the single stroke gesture is received. The input trajectory is normalized to produce a normalized trajectory having a standard set of dimensions. The normalized trajectory is reduced to a standard number of substantially evenly spaced points. Respective covariance adjusted distances are determined for each class as the covariance adjusted position between a set of points representing each single stroke character classes and the substantially evenly spaced points representing the normalized trajectory.

Inventors:
Andy Spix - Redwood City CA, US
Adrian Kaehler - Boulder Creek CA, US
Sunil Sankar - San Jose CA, US
Mike Reitsma - Burlingame CA, US
International Classification:
G06F013/00
US Classification:
711131000
Abstract:
An integrated circuit includes a register array having a number of entry groups. Each of the entry groups includes multiple entries. Each of the entries has multiple bits. The bits among different entries are grouped into bit groups. The integrated circuit also includes a number of output ports. Each of the output ports has multiple selecting units. Each of the selecting units connects to one of the bit groups. The integrated circuit further includes a number of match ports. Each of the match ports has multiple comparing units. Each of the comparing units connects to one of the bit groups.

Image Magnification System For Computer Interface

View page
US Patent:
20100026723, Feb 4, 2010
Filed:
Jul 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/183786
Inventors:
H. Keith Nishihara - Los Altos CA, US
Shi-Ping Hsu - Pasadena CA, US
Adrian Kaehler - Los Angeles CA, US
Eric Gradman - Los Angeles CA, US
Kjerstin Williams - Los Angeles CA, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345671
Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention includes a computer interface system. The system comprises a user interface screen configured to display visual content and an input system configured to detect a presence of an input object within a threshold distance along a normal axis of the user interface screen. The system further comprises a graphical controller configured to magnify a portion of the visual content that is located at an approximate location of a base of the normal axis on the user interface screen.

Compound Gesture Recognition

View page
US Patent:
20100050133, Feb 25, 2010
Filed:
Aug 22, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/196767
Inventors:
H. Keith Nishihara - Los Altos CA, US
Shi-Ping Hsu - Pasadena CA, US
Adrian Kaehler - Boulder Creek CA, US
Bran Ferren - Glendale CA, US
Lars Jangaard - Glendale CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715863
Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention includes a method for executing and interpreting gesture inputs in a gesture recognition interface system. The method includes detecting and translating a first sub-gesture into a first device input that defines a given reference associated with a portion of displayed visual content. The method also includes detecting and translating a second sub-gesture into a second device input that defines an execution command for the portion of the displayed visual content to which the given reference refers.

Security System Utilizing Gesture Recognition

View page
US Patent:
20100052851, Mar 4, 2010
Filed:
Sep 4, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/204509
Inventors:
Adrian Kaehler - Boulder Creek CA, US
International Classification:
G05B 19/00
US Classification:
340 581
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for restricting access to an item of interest. A normalization component resamples an input trajectory to produce a resampled trajectory having a standard size. A reference point generator reduces the resampled trajectory to respective values for a set of reference points, each having at least two associated coordinates. The system further includes at least one authentication region. Each of the at least one authentication region represents at least one of the set of reference points. A verification component is configured to determine if the values for the set of reference points from a given input falls within the at least one authentication region. An access restriction mechanism restricts access to the item of interest unless a threshold number of values for the set of reference points from the input falls within their associated authentication regions.

Dual Composite Light Field Device

View page
US Patent:
20220404178, Dec 22, 2022
Filed:
Aug 19, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/891951
Inventors:
- Plantation FL, US
Adrian KAEHLER - Los Gatos CA, US
International Classification:
G01D 5/26
G02B 6/10
G02B 27/01
G02B 6/00
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for capturing image information. The apparatus includes a waveguide having opposed planar input and output faces. A diffractive optical element (DOE) is formed across the waveguide. The DOE is configured to couple a portion of the light passing through the waveguide into the waveguide. The light coupled into the waveguide is directed via total internal reflection to an exit location on the waveguide. The apparatus further includes a light sensor having an input positioned adjacent the exit location of the waveguide to capture light exiting therefrom and generate output signals corresponding thereto. A processor determines the angle and position of the coupled light with respect to the input face of the waveguide based on the output signals.
