Dec 27, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/331172
Inventors:
Adrian Boariu - Irving TX, US
Assignee:
Nokia Corporation - Espoo
International Classification:
H04B 1/02
US Classification:
455102, 455106, 455103, 375273, 375308, 370204
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for forming a space-generated multilevel coding scheme for a radio communication system. Two or more modulators are positioned at a sending station. The modulators modulate, pursuant to separate modulation schemes, data that is to be communicated by the sending station. The modulation schemes are lower-order modulation schemes. The modulated data is communicated to a receiving station, and detected at a least single receive antenna. The modulated symbols formed by the separate modulators are superimposed theretogether and form symbols of a higher order modulation scheme.

Appl. No.:
10/611316
Inventors:
Adrian Boariu - Irving TX, US
Balaji Raghothaman - Allen TX, US
Assignee:
Nokia Corporation - Espoo
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455522, 455 68, 4555621, 455561, 370318, 370252, 375349, 375148
Abstract:
A method for scheduling weighted transmissions from two or more transmit antennas of a base station to each of two or more mobile stations in a closed-loop transmit diversity system, whereby the quantity of power available for data transmission from each transmit antenna is determined and, with respect to each antenna, the power required to transmit data to each mobile station is determined. The number of mobile stations that may be served simultaneously by a base station is determined and, for each combination of respective mobile stations constituting the number of mobile stations that may be served simultaneously, the transmission of data from each transmit antenna to the mobile stations is scheduled to minimize unused power.

Apparatus, And Associated Method, For Assigning Data To Transmit Antennas Of A Multiple Transmit Antenna Transmitter

View page
US Patent:
7379506, May 27, 2008
Filed:
Sep 23, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/669128
Inventors:
Adrian Boariu - Irving TX, US
Balaji Raghothaman - Allen TX, US
Assignee:
Nokia Corporation - Espoo
International Classification:
H04B 7/02
US Classification:
375267
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating communication of encoded data, formed of a systematic part and a non-systematic part, in a radio communication system. Systematic parts of the encoded data are assigned by an assignor to transmit antennas that are associated with communication channels exhibiting better, or best, communication quality levels. Determinations are made of communication conditions to rank the transmit antennas, thereby permit appropriate assignments of the encoded data to transmit antennas. Feedback is provided by the receiver that receives the transmitted data. The feedback information includes, or is formed responsive to, detections and other measurements at the receivers.

Abstract:
Methods for use in multi-hop relay networks are described. One method includes receiving a first message from a first relay station requesting a temporary suspension of communication between the first relay station and one or more user equipment. In response to receiving the first message, a second message is transmitted to the one or more user equipment. The second message includes instructions to the user equipment to temporarily suspend communication with the first relay station at a specific time. A third message is transmitted to the first relay station. A scanning operation is performed at the specified time in response to receiving the third message. A second method for use in multi-hop relay networks is also described. The second method includes transmitting a neighbor information message. The neighbor information message includes a relay zone offset indicating the start of a station in a frame structure.
