Filed:
Sep 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/945306
Inventors:
Svante Roding - Highland Mills NY, US
Abdu Bunch - Harriman NY, US
Don Voas - Loveland OH, US
Ronald Hostetler - Rock Hill SC, US
Assignee:
International Paper Company - Stamford CT
International Classification:
D21H 19/36
US Classification:

Abstract:
A paper and paperboard material comprising a paper or paperboard substrate, a basecoat layer on at least one surface of substrate and topcoat on a surface of the basecoat, said topcoat comprising one or more pigments dispersed in one or more binders and said basecoat comprising low density thermoplastic particles dispersed in one or more binders. The basecoat is compressible which reduces back trap print mottle in offset printed images.

Solvent Resistant Glossy Printable Substrates And Their Methods Of Manufacture And Use

View page
US Patent:
20170341449, Nov 30, 2017
Filed:
May 26, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/606140
Inventors:
- Alpharetta GA, US
Abdu Yohance Bunch - Marquette MI, US
International Classification:
B41M 5/52
B41J 2/01
Abstract:
Printable substrates that provide a glossy printable surface with solvent resistance are provided. The printable substrate may include a base sheet having a first surface and a second surface, and a printable coating on the first surface. The printable coating includes a film-forming binder mixture, a crosslinking agent, a partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, a first plurality of first silicon dioxide microparticles, a second plurality of second silicon dioxide microparticles, and a cationic dye fixative. The printable substrate may have a gloss level of about 50 to about 60 based on measurement of a gloss meter set with an angle of measurement of 75 degree on the external surface of the printable coating.

Solvent Resistant Printable Substrates And Their Methods Of Manufacture And Use

US Patent:
20170120655, May 4, 2017
Filed:
Oct 30, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/928539
Inventors:
- Alpharetta GA, US
Aaron Jacobson - Munising MI, US
Abdu Bunch - Marquette MI, US
Steven L. Vervacke - Appleton WI, US
International Classification:
B41M 5/52
B41M 5/50
Abstract:
A printable substrate, along with methods of its formation, is generally provided. The printable coating can include a base sheet defining a first surface and a second surface and a printable coating on the first surface of the base sheet. The base sheet can be constructed from a cellulosic nonwoven web and a saturant. The printable coating can include a plurality of inorganic microparticles and a crosslinked material, where the crosslinked material is formed from a crosslinkable polymeric binder and a crosslinking agent. An image can be formed on the printable substrate, such as by printing an ink composition onto the printable substrate (e.g., onto the printable coating).
