Devices And Methods For Enhancing The Fit Of Boots And Other Footwear

View page
US Patent:
20200046080, Feb 13, 2020
Filed:
Oct 16, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/655073
Inventors:
- Denver CO, US
Charles Hamilton - Northville MI, US
Ilya Minkin - Denver CO, US
Rebecca Peterson - Denver CO, US
Aaron Venturini - Littleton CO, US
Tamara White - Denver CO, US
Assignee:
Boa Technology Inc. - Denver CO
International Classification:
A43C 11/16
A45F 5/02
Abstract:
A closure system for a boot or other footwear includes a tension member that is disposed within the boot and routed or guided about a path within the boot via one or more guides. The closure system also includes an adjustment member that is disposed within the boot and operably coupled with the tension member. The closure system further includes a reel based closure device having a knob that is operable to tension the tension member and to release tension from the tension member. Tensioning of the tension member adjusts a fit of the adjustment member about a foot within the boot to secure the foot within the boot and loosening of the tension member adjusts the fit of the adjustment member about the foot to allow the foot to be more easily removed from the boot.

A43C 11/00
A43C 3/00
A61C 7/02
F16G 11/12
A61F 5/02
Abstract:
According to an embodiment, a device for tightening an article includes a housing, a spool rotatably positioned within the housing, a knob operably coupled with the spool to cause the spool to rotate within the housing, and a stop mechanism. The device is configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a first direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool within the housing that incrementally tensions a tension member and thereby tightens the article. The device is also configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a second direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool that incrementally loosens the tension member's tension. The stop mechanism is configured to prevent rotation of the spool in the second direction when the tension member's tension achieves or falls below a tension threshold.

Oct 7, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/288825
Inventors:
- Denver CO, US
Brett Vladika - Golden CO, US
Robert Burns - Denver CO, US
Michael Nickel - Golden CO, US
Aaron Venturini - Denver CO, US
Jesse Cotterman - Evergreen CO, US
Assignee:
Boa Technology Inc. - Denver CO
International Classification:
A43C 1/00
A43C 11/16
A43C 1/06
Abstract:
A lacing system for tightening an article includes a first guide that is coupled with the article and positioned within a first zone of the article and a second guide that is coupled with the article and positioned within a second zone of the article with at least a portion of the second zone being different than the first zone. A first tension member is guided by the first guide within the first zone and a second tension member is guided by the second guide within the second zone. Tensioning of the first tension member or second tension member causes tightening of the respective zone of the article. A tensioning mechanism is also coupled with the article and with the first and second tension members. The tensioning mechanism is configured to tension the first and second tension members to tighten the first and second zones of the article.

Filed:
Oct 7, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/877755
Inventors:
- Denver CO, US
John Crow - Denver CO, US
Aaron Venturini - Denver CO, US
International Classification:
A43C 11/16
A43B 5/14
Abstract:
According to one aspect, a mechanism for wirelessly adjusting tension of an article includes a tension input component that is coupleable with a vehicle in an area that is easily accessible to a user. The tension input component is configured to receive input from the user corresponding to an adjustment of a motorized tensioning device that is attached to the article and that is configured to adjust a tension of a tension member. The tension input component is configured to wirelessly transmit the received input to the motorized tensioning device. Adjustment of the tension member tightens or loosens the article in accordance with the input received from the tension input component.
