Abstract:
A computer program product is provided as a system and associated method that allows the user to view a hierarchical lineage in a tree format even in the event of recursive circular relationships. The system prevents the lineage tree from being infinitely expandable truncating tree expansion when encountering a child that has previously appeared in the tree. If the user attempts to expand on an object that leads to a child already displayed in the tree, the system replaces the child's icon with one that resembles a recursive icon. The recursive icon is displayed by the system at the point of recursion, showing that an infinite, recursive relationship has occurred.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for specifying a criteria for searching an information hierarchy and displaying search results in a tree-based view that indicates the location of matching elements within the information hierarchy. The location of matching elements within the information hierarchy is emphasized using techniques that include highlighting instances of matching elements within a treeview display, graphically connecting a plurality of matching elements within a treeview display, and displaying a first matching element while presenting a graphical link to the next matching element within the treeview display. Search criteria can be specified using a pop-up search-test input window, or by simply right/left/double clicking upon an element within the information hierarchy. Search results are displayed within a treeview display that presents matching elements within the path-based context of the original information hierarchy but in which non-matching elements are selectively hidden based upon user configuration options selected.

A flash memory storage system may include several modules of flash memory storage manager circuitry, each having some associated flash memory. The modules may be interconnected via the flash memory storage manager circuitry of the modules. The system may be able to write data to and/or read data from the flash memory associated with various ones of the modules by routing the data through the flash memory storage circuitry of the modules. The system may also be able to relocate data for various reasons using such read and write operations. The flash memory storage circuitry of the modules keeps track of where data actually is in the flash memory.
