A communication network and an associated network manager server according to the invention includes one or more instances of a first object type and one or more instances of a second object type. The first object type is associated with a first product of the communication network such as a PBX and the second object type is associated with a second product of the network such as a phone mail product. The network includes a first local module for configuring each instance of the first object type and a second local module for configuring each instance of the second object type. A network management server of the network includes a product specific coordinator. The product specific coordinator includes means for coordinating configuration activities among each instance of the first object type via the first local module and means for coordinating configuration activities among each instance of the second object type via the second local module. The network further includes a network coordinator adapted for configuring each instance of a network object, such as a person object that includes a PBX component and a phone mail component. A "tower"-type computer has a metal frame or chassis enclosed in an ornamental plastic housing. One side of the plastic housing with an attached metal liner is detachable for access to the interior of the chassis. The upper front corner of the chassis is provided with a metallic subframe. A detachable main bezel, divided into three vertically separated sections, covers the front of the chassis. The upper section of the main bezel is substantially open but is provided with ears so that fasteners can connect the ears to the front of the chassis. A peripheral bezel snaps onto this upper section of the main bezel and is provided with three openings which are covered with removable fillers. When a filler is removed, a computer peripheral may be inserted through the peripheral bezel into tracks in a bracket installed in the subframe.

A leg plate for fastening to an expectant mother's skin interconnects electrodes at the fetal scale with an external heart rate monitor and also senses voltage at the maternal skin to enable elimination of the maternal heartbeat from the output data. The leg plate has a base member with a pair of recesses into which the two output wires of the fetal scalp electrode attachment may be inserted and two hinged snap action covers which may be separately pivoted to close the recesses and to clamp the wires against internal contacts. Output cable conductors connect with the contacts and with a sensing electrode on the underside of the leg plate. The base member, cover and hinges are unitary portions of a single plastic molding enabling the leg plate to be compact, inexpensive and disposable after a single use. In the preferred form, a peelable fluid tight sheet covers a layer of electrically conductive adhesive on the underside of the leg plate enabling quick and simple attachment of the device to the maternal skin.
