Filed:
Feb 11, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/776817
Inventors:
Kamal Tawfiq - Tallahassee FL, US
Edward J. Mallory - Tallahassee FL, US
Sastry Putcha - Tallahassee FL, US
Dan Turner - Lake City FL, US
Assignee:
Florida State University Research Foundation, Inc. - Tallahassee FL
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
G01V 1/40
G01V 3/18
E21B 47/00

US Classification:
382109, 702 6, 7315202, 16625001, 175 50, 348 85
Abstract:
Visual inspection of an interior surface of a borehole. A housing adapted to be lowered in the borehole supports a portable camera for generating images of a portion of the interior surface of the borehole and a light source for illuminating an area adjacent the camera. A monitor receives signals from the camera and, in response thereto, displays the images generated by the camera. A viewing envelope positioned adjacent the camera defines a viewing area adjacent the camera, particularly for use in visually inspecting slurry-filled boreholes.

Wireless Apparatus And Method For Analysis Of Driven Piles

View page
US Patent:
20020148298, Oct 17, 2002
Filed:
Apr 17, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/837148
Inventors:
Michael McVay - Gainesville FL, US
Victor Alvarez - Gainesville FL, US
Charles Broward - Melrose FL, US
Sidney Schofield - Gainesville FL, US
Sastry Putcha - Tallahassee FL, US
International Classification:
G01N003/00
US Classification:
073/760000
Abstract:
A system for the determination of pile parameters includes at least one structure for measuring pile data. The structure for measuring pile data is disposed within a measurement range from a pile. A wireless transmitter is communicably connected to the structure for measuring pile data, the wireless transmitter for transmitting the pile data to at least one remotely located receiver. Pile data is preferably encoded in the transmitted data signal. The remotely located receiver is communicably connected to a device for determining at least one pile parameter from the pile measurement data. A method for driving piles includes the steps of wirelessly transmitting pile data to at least one remote receiver, determining at least one pile driving process parameter from the pile data, and driving the pile using the determined pile driving parameter.
