Traditional-Opening Dimmer Switch Having A Multi-Functional Button

View page
US Patent:
20070216318, Sep 20, 2007
Filed:
Mar 16, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/724919
Inventors:
Gregory Altonen - Easton PA, US
Samuel Chambers - Conshohocken PA, US
Eric Mace - Allentown PA, US
Matthew Ochs - Macungie PA, US
Louis Rollo - Allentown PA, US
International Classification:
H05B 39/04
US Classification:
31520900R
Abstract:
A load control device, for controlling the amount of power delivered to a electrical load from an AC power source, comprises a user interface adapted to be received in an opening of a traditional-style faceplate and providing a plurality of functionalities on a single control button. A transitory actuation of the control button controls the power delivered to the load. Pulling the control button away from the load control device actuates an air-gap switch to provide an air-gap break in the electrical connection between the source and the load. A linear array of status indicators is provided on a front surface of the control button and displays a visual representation of the amount of power being delivered to the load. A plurality of light pipes are provided inside the control button to conduct the light from a plurality of light-emitting diodes to the front surface of the control button.

US Patent:
20070272532, Nov 29, 2007
Filed:
May 18, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/750832
Inventors:
Michael W. Pessina - Allentown PA, US
Walter S. Zaharchuk - Macungie PA, US
Jon M. Keagy - Perkasie PA, US
Andrew R. Wakefield - Coopersburg PA, US

Assignee:
LUTRON ELECTRONICS CO., INC. - Coopersburg PA
International Classification:
H01H 13/04
US Classification:
200333
Abstract:
The present invention provides a means for easily ganging together a traditional-style dimmer switch and a designer-style dimmer switch in a multi-gang designer-style faceplate. Specifically, a faceplate adapter for a load control device according to the present invention comprises a front surface, an adapter opening in the front surface, and an attachment post. The front surface defines a first area substantially the same size as a faceplate opening of a designer-style faceplate. The adapter opening defines a second area substantially the same size as a faceplate opening of a traditional-style faceplate. The attachment post allows the adapter to be secured to the load control device.

Cord-Mounted Remote Control Device

US Patent:
20150109721, Apr 23, 2015
Filed:
Oct 18, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/057482
Inventors:
- Coopersburg PA, US
Louis G. Rollo - Hellertown PA, US
Brian R. O'Donnell - Alburtis PA, US
Assignee:
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. - Coopersburg PA
International Classification:
H05K 7/00
US Classification:
36167901, 248 65
Abstract:
A remote control assembly may include a housing to which a remote control device may be attached (e.g., releasably attached). The remote control assembly may be configured to mount to a cord, for example an electrical cord that includes an insulating sheath. The housing of the remote control assembly may define a path therethrough that is configured to receive a portion of the electrical cord. The housing may be configured to restrain the cord such that the housing remains in a mounted location on the cord. For example, the housing may be configured to engage the insulating sheath of the electrical cord at one or more locations along the path through the housing. The remote control assembly may include a remote control device that is configured to control a load control device, for example via wireless communication signals transmitted from the remote control device.
