A high-resolution, per-packet measurement tool for analyzing a computer network that operates by sending a predetermined number of packets from a sender machine to a receiver machine with measurement information inserted into the packet. The system kernel at the sending machine stamps a sequence number and the sender's local time into the data section of each packet. When packets arrive at the receiver machine, they are similarly stamped by the receiving machine's kernel with the receiving machine's local time. The maintained packet information serves as the basis for latency analysis. For example, one set of latencies can be obtained with QoS mechanisms turned on, and another set with QoS mechanisms turned off, whereby the benefits of the QoS mechanisms can be accurately determined. Abstract:
A tester and method are provided for testing semiconductor devices. Generally, the tester includes a multitasking Algorithmic Pattern Generator (APG) to concurrently execute multiple programs on multiple test sites using a single pattern generator. In one embodiment, up to eight test programs are run independently and concurrently on eight independent sixteen-pin devices on a 128 pin test site. When the multitasking APG is ready to broadcast to a device, timing system associated with that device only (and not the other devices) are loaded. While the timing system is executing the cycle of the test programs for the device just loaded, the APG continues on to load the other devices. Because of the slow cycle rates required for programming versus reading, the tester is particularly advantageous for testing flash memory. Optionally, for higher throughput, the APG can be run in lock step at up to a maximum operating frequency of the APG during read cycle of flash.

Abstract:
Multi-participant online activities are described. In one or more implementations, a protocol is described which ties an online activity (e. g. , an online game) to an instant messaging infrastructure. For example, an online game may leverage the instant messaging infrastructure to form rosters of participants for participation in the online game, Once the roster is formed, the instant messaging infrastructure may further manage the presence of the participants in the online activity, such as which users join and cease participation in the online activity and notify other users of these changes. Further, the state of participation in the online activity may be stored such that the users may continue between sessions.

Abstract:
Asynchronous voice messaging is employed to enable individuals to send voice clips back and forth over a network. In at least some embodiments, the voice clips reside in the form of discrete, manageable objects that can be easily managed by the user. In addition, some embodiments described provide hand-free/eyes-free functionality that can permit a user to create and send (or receive and play) a voice message without having to physically enter an intended recipient's address or otherwise digitally manipulate the device over which the message is sent or received.
