Drilling apparatus includes a stationary support base and a worktable mounted to the support base for movement in a Y direction. At least one tooling plate is movably mounted to the support base for movement in the Y direction and is adapted to support the panel shaped workpiece thereon. At least one tooling element is mounted for movement in X and Z directions in relation to the tooling plate for machining contact with the panel. Coordinated movement of the tooling element in the X direction with movement of the worktable in the Y direction enables a predetermined pattern of holes to be drilled into one end of the panel. Following this coordinated drilling movement, the worktable is maintained in a stationary position while the tooling plate shuttles from a first position to a second position in the Y direction to move the panel and expose the other end portion to subsequent coordinated X and Y movement of the tooling element and worktable to drill a further predetermined hole pattern into the panel. A method of drilling hole patterns into the entire length of the panel is also disclosed.

A registration alignment system to be used with a printed circuit board drilling machine for registration of PCBs on the tooling plate for drilling and other operations. The registration alignment system includes a registration bar and a registration block that move independently of each other. The movement of the registration bar is constrained to one dimension (i. e. , X-axis), and the movement of the registration block is constrained to one dimension (i. e. , Y-axis) that is perpendicular to the axis of movement of the registration bar. The registration bar and block contact adjusting screws which are used to control precise movement of the registration bar and block. When the registration pins of the PCB are in position against the registration bar and block, the pins are held in place by clamping bars. When the size of the registration pins change, the registration of the new PCB is still correct and does not have to be adjusted.

This invention provides a method of preparing an electrical overstress material having a nonlinear resistance which declines sharply in response to an electric field exceeding a clamping voltage so as to be able to shunt out transient surges which method comprises using an adhesive binder, for example a silicone rubber or a ceramics dispersion, and thorough mixing therein of small conductive, and optionally semiconductive particles, for example nickel particles of various morphologies and silicon carbide particles respectively, followed by molding under pressure and curing. The invention is also directed to the electrical overstress material itself which has excellent strength and integrity as well as survivability from multiple surges and has multiple applications in, for example, electrical outlet strips and power cables. The invention is also directed to a power outlet strip comprising a plurality of surge arresting elements composed of the electrical overstress material of the invention.
